Star Search with Ed McMahon
This is an overview of what I have in my collection. Season 1 (1983-84) [E! Reruns] This was the inaugural season that introduced us to the world's greatest talent competition. This season was taped at Metromedia Square. Acts include: Brad Garrett Tracey Ross Sawyer Brown Sam Harris Junior edition features: Tiffanny Emmanuel Lewis Thanks to TV of YourLife and Justin D of Atlanta Season 2 (1984-85) Note: From this season until 1992, the show was taped at Aquarius Theatre which became the show's home for almost the entire run. Acts include: Sinbad John Kasir Rosie O'Donnell Ken Ober Barbara Baan Michaela Amy Stock (from Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventures) Beverly Leech (aka Kate Monday from “Mathnet/Square One TV”) Season 3 (1985-86) [E! Reruns; Jr. version Original Broadcasts] Acts Include: Richard Jeni Jenny Jones Cyndi James Reese Aimee Karen Marie Thomas Devin Devasquez Junior Edition features: Lindsay Price Season 4 (1986-87) (Original Broadcasts) Note: From this point forward, Star Search had eliminated the leading lady/man category and replaced it with Teens and Juniors in the Fall of '86. Also, the spokesmodel segment now involves the models introducing fashion design in the video as well as tease views before the commercial break. Acts include: Heinz and Kesha Tracie Spencer Darryl Sivad Mark McCullum Martin Lawrence Theresa Ring Tina Littlewood Allison Porter Season 5 (1987-88) Note: The spokesmodel segment has already adopted the standard format. Also, this is the first season NOT produced by Bob Banner Associates. Acts Include: Linda Eder Drew Carey Countess Vaughn Sophia Bowen Cynthia Gouw America's Apple Pie Al Lubel Boys' Club Tony and Kerri Season 8 (1990-91) Major changes to the show, after fall of 1988 we're introduced to the video wall for the spokesmodel segments, the band competition made a comeback, and the show had a faster paced format. Also, the theme music was updated since fall of '88.
