Mackenzie Phillips Shares Addiction Story...Wants A Hollywood Comeback!
SEDONA, Ariz. - We talked to one actress that knows first hand about the battles with alcohol and drugs -- Mackenzie Phillips. We sat down with her in Sedona, and in addition to talking to us about her latest film, she also opened up about her personal struggles.
From the time she was very young, Mackenzie Phillips made her mark on the entertainment industry. Most recently you might have seen her on reality TV. Today in Sedona she sat down to promote her latest role in an independent film Peach Plum Pear. She plays Sharon, a bar owner who takes in two strangers. No matter the role, the one she cares most about now is that of a friendly ear or a helpful hand through social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter. She aims to reach out to those who are victims of abuse or those recovering from drug addiction -- two rough areas from her own life she's survived in the past. “People say ‘oh yeah right I know that exists but it really freaks me out I’m not going to look at it I’m not going to talk about it’ but you’d better. You’d better, kids are dying, you’d better think about it you’d better talk about it,” says Phillips. “People need rescuing not only financially, but emotionally and spiritually, people need rescuing and it’s a difficult time in this world.” Mackenzie Phillips, or Mack to her friends and family, hopes through Twitter, Facebook, film and TV, those stories of abuse give way to stories of hope. “I don’t mean to be all heavy but I really do think it’s important. We’re beholden to tell these stories cause we have the opportunity to tell these stories that will break down taboos and break down barriers and open a national dialogue that sets people free.” Peach Plum Pear is doing well in the festival circuit, and Mackenzie says she hopes roles like this one will lead to more work and more film projects. The Sedona International Film Festival runs through this weekend. http://www.myfoxphoenix.com/dpp/ente...tory-2-23-2012

This will be like her 3rd or 4th comeback. LOL. However, I'm happy for her. I love this lady. I think that she is fabulous.
