It's about a girl who'd hurl things across the room using her mind. Appliances would turn on by themselves and at one point, eggs flew out of the fridge, even when the fridge door was closed.

That's Tina Resch. http://unsolvedmysteries.wikia.com/wiki/Tina_Resch She turned out to be a fake and worse. From the link above: Tina, now going by the divorced name of Christina Boyer, has been sentenced to life plus twenty years for the death of her three-year-old daughter in the custody of her boyfriend. But some people think she was wrongfully convicted. Her next possible parole date is April 14, 2012. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tina_Resch http://jamesaconrad.com/Tina/Tina-Re...egal-case.html |

Oh my goodness, I had no idea of all of this. Wow, didn't think it was this bad until I read everything. How did she kill her daughter though? |

I think it had something to do with parental neglect, she left her child with her boyfriend who subsequently killed the child. If you google her name she has a wikipedia page and it goes into a little bit more detail. I don't think it has ever been 100% proven that it was all a hoax. If you remember in her UM segment, the photographer that snapped the famous "flying phone photo" said that the photo was authentic. I don't see any real reason he (or Tina's parents) would have any reason in lying. |

The "hoax" claim came about because a video camera was left running (apparently Tina was unaware that it was on) and she was caught on film knocking over a lamp and blaming it on the poltergeist.
I don't know if that footage has ever been made public tho, so I can't say if it's proof that she was making it up or just a rumor. I thought I read that she was asked about faking the lamp thing and she admitted to doing it. Her excuse was that she wanted to get the camera people to leave because she was tired of them. While I do believe in different kinds of supernatural activity, I think this particular case really is just a hoax perpetrated by a bored teen who wanted attention. Regarding her murder conviction, I haven't read the whole story in a while, so I've forgotten a lot of the details. I am quite surprised that she's been doing 20 years for leaving her daughter in the care of the killer. Websleuths.com and badbreeders.net have reports of tons of cases where many child abusers and killers get no jail time, or maybe 12 months plus a few years probation. I don't think I've ever read about a case where the neglectful parent served a longer sentence than the actual killer. I wonder if there's other circumstances involved that I forgot about to cause Tina's sentence to be so long. One of the sites I linked to says that the convicted baby killing boyfriend was paroled in November of last year and she's still in prison. |

I should go back and read up on that case. I'd forgotten about the sexual assault. I don't know if I have a skewed perception from reading about and watching too much true crime stuff, or if things really are that out of whack, but it seems that crimes against children rarely result in as harsh of a punishment as if the same crime was committed against an adult. |

ppl, rewatch this segment.Tina inadvertently tells the viewers exactly WHY she did it,(at school anyway)...she was ticked b/c the teachers were making a big deal out of taking her out of the room to administer her meds, when they could have just done it quietly.she states just that.this one isn't hard to figure at all...I think she was being passive-aggressive and it was her way of causing trouble without getting into trouble (at home as well as at school on that one).

as for the eggs 'flying out of the fridge' ,or rather, flying thru the fridge door by themselves...I think Tina just picked a few up and threw them when her mother had her back turned.simple,really.

I thought she said she faked the lamp falling over because there were reporters at her house harassing her and her parents who said they weren't going to leave until something happened. Why her mother simply didn't just toss them out, I don't know, but I figured that explanation (coming from a troubled teenager) was sound enough.

Just watched the segment again. A newspaper reporter and his photographer, were invited by the family to interview Tina regarding all the unexplained activity that was happening around her. The photographer snapped the famous flying phone picture.
Once that photo was published, paranormal investigators jumped on the case, requesting permission to study Tina. She admits right in the segment that she faked the episode with the lamp at her mother's urging. Stack: Tina Resch became a media sensation. One of the reporters generated a different kind of headline when he and his crew caught Tina in the act of hoaxing an episode. Tina: They kept telling my mother, "Well we're not gonna leave unless we see something happen". And my mom said, "Alright, something's got to happen," because she's getting tired of this and she's not the type of person to be pushy and tell them to leave. So I sat on the chair and knocked the lamp over. My mom [had taken] me in the other room and she said, "We've got to do something," and I said, "okay". BTW, there's no poltergeist involved. Tina never blamed a poltergeist for knocking over the lamp. I don't know why The Skeptical Inquirer titled their book The Columbus Poltergeist Case, unless it was because they were trying to generate interest by tying into the great success of the movie, Poltergeist, which had only come out a couple years before this. Tina's situation is obviously a claim of telekinesis or psychokinesis. Poltergeist suggests a haunting by a ghost, which was never mentioned in the segment. |

I've always thought Tina was undergoing some form of telekinesis instead of anything supernatural. I don't think the eggs coming through the refrigerator actually happened, but I can see things like the phone flying across the room, light switches turning on and off, etc.
