Arrow 5-Year old girl gets off school bus--

Only to find here mother not there. But before the castigating of the girl's parents begins, here's what really happened. The girl's mother was in the hospital, visiting a sick friend, and the father was at work, and miscommunicated.Meanwhile, the little girl, frightened, gets the keys to her family's SUV,and drives it,but doesn't get very far-the little girl calls 911 asking what to do next.,and no,the girl was NOT hurt, and was praised by the 911 Operator.Any comments?

Don't 5 year olds usually go to school for a half day? Why couldn't the mother wait til after the girl got out of school then go see her friend.

Just wondering--

I assume the SUV was at home so that begs to ask, how far was the bus stop from home? If the girl made it home why didnt she just stay there? Can 5 year olds reach the pedals of an SUV?

Actually the mother herself was in the hospital for an ailment, not visiting a friend. The mother said she left a message for the father to pick up the daughter, she also should have called the school to tell them she was in the hospital. Im sure someone at the school would have done something for the little girl so she didnt have to be dropped off at home alone.
