Confused Did I Dream This As A Kid Or Did Nancy Dussault Appear Before An Episode...

....and announce the death of Ted Knight? I could've sworn this happened, but I haven't had any luck trying to track it down on youtube...

No, you didn't imagine it. I remember seeing Nancy Dussault announcing Ted Knight's death before an episode in August 1986. I watched it on KTTV Channel 11 Los Angeles. I wish I had recorded it. It would be interesting to see again.

WOW, I never knew that. Wish someone had a clip.

The worst part is TCFC was due to come back for another season! It would've probably lasted a few more seasons if he lived.

It's one of the top 4 greatest sitcoms EVER yet most people haven't even heard of it!

I liked Ted Knight and Nancy Dussault together. They looked as though they could had been married in real life.

Nancy made a very nice tribute to him on the DVD. Did they not get along when he was alive?? I find that hard to believe!

I heard Ted was a hard person to get along with and there were times him and Nancy did not get along but she respected him as an actor.

I was right there along with you...well, not literally, but chronologically and geographically lol.

I could not believe my eyes and ears when I heard her memoriam speech before the final episode aired, and part of me was hoping she was just "acting". I cried at the end of the episode, knowing I would never see him again...mind you I was 8 years old lol.

This would have been on The Ted Knight Show. The show's title was changed when the daughters were written out of the show. Same characters of Henry and Muriel Rush, just a different show title.

I could be wrong, but I thought that the tribute aired on the Ted Knight passed away which was a Tuesday before a rerun of Too Close for Comfort and "The Ted Knight Show" episodes were only airing on Saturday evenings after Small Wonder on KTTV.

That's certainly possible. I never did see it, so I couldn't tell. I was just assuming that they tacked it in as an intro to a current episode of Ted Knight.

It was a sad loss, though. And not long after the show changed its title and focus on Henry and Muriel.

Yeah, I never even knew Ted Knight was sick! I guess he hid it very well.

I always wondered if they acknowledged Ted Knight's death during the show's original run, since they originally aired the final ten episodes after he died, and there is no mention of his death in the episodes that air on AntennaTV.

Ironically, in the episode "Rock Around Henry", which first aired three months after Knight's death, the episode ends with a titlecard acknowledging the death of series creator Arne Sultan, who died five months before Ted Knight.
