'American Psycho' Author Bret Easton Ellis: 'Glee' is Like a 'Puddle of HIV'
Author Bret Easton Ellis, the mastermind behind literary odes to decadence 'American Psycho,' 'Less Than Zero,' and 'The Rules of Attraction,' is taking his aim at America's youth once again, but the new objects of his derision aren't snorting cocaine or indulging their murderous fantasies -- they're just singing show tunes.
Ellis has directed his latest feelings of anger toward a family-friendly target: FOX's 'Glee.' Last night, the author gave followers his unbiased opinion of the show, tweeting, "I like the idea of Glee but why is it that every time I watch an episode I feel like I've stepped into a puddle of HIV?" The author's reaction is a particularly surprising one, considering the stories of teen prostitution, promiscuity, and murder on which he built his career. Following up his earlier position on the show, Ellis wrote, in a seemingly homophobic barb against one of the show's stars, "No, I wasn't drunk last night. I was watching Chris Colfer singing, um, 'Le Jazz Hot' and felt like I had suddenly come down with the hivs." Despite the jabs at the show, FOX may only have reason to be offended, not concerned about the impact of Ellis' comments. This is, after all, a man who called 'The Hills' "brilliant, gorgeous, very smart, fascinating." http://www.popeater.com/2011/04/14/b...on-ellis-glee/

Ellis is one of those authors who thinks being edgy over funny or entertaining is enough.
It's not. ![]()
