TV The Stars of FOX's "Breaking In" Preview the Quirky New Comedy

The Stars of "Breaking In" Preview Their Quirky New Comedy (VIDEO)
by Maggie Furlong
posted Apr 4th 2011

Christian Slater is giving TV another go, but this time on a comedy.
A workplace comedy, actually, just not at a workplace you've ever seen before.

"Breaking In" (premieres Wednesday, April 6, 9:30PM ET on Fox) pits Slater as the boss of a ragtag group of crafty kids whose work at Contra Security allows them to stretch the limits of the law to prove that they're the ultimate in security companies.

They essentially break into places, steal things and wreak all kinds of havoc, all to prove that they can, and then they get paid for it when the victims become their clients.

Christian Slater as 'Oz' (The Quirky Boss)

It's quirky, it's eccentric, it's odd at times.. but at the end of the day it's specifically a comedy. I think when you have that kind of clarity it makes everybody's life, and job, a lot easier.

I was really happy with the final outcome. Adam Goldberg and Doug Robinson were great from the beginning. They were open to ideas and really cool about including personal stuff... you know personal quirks and eccentricities that we all have.

If I could put it out there I would like to get Winona Ryder to play my ex-wife. That would be a dream come true. If she can't do it we'll get somebody else wonderful, but I've always loved her and she's great.

So if she's listening we'll be calling her soon.

Brett Harrison as 'Cameron' (The New Recruit)

I think it's so cool that Christian Slater is doing comedy right now. He's got such a wry sense of humor and I was constantly on my toes as an actor playing opposite him; not knowing what we were going to do from take-to-take and that's great.

I think that 'Cameron's' strength, and he probably doesn't know it at all, is that he's a good team leader. He wants to do well and it's the perfect job for him.

Odette Annable is a very beautiful girl and I think that 'Cameron' knows it. He's always finding himself in awkward situations and especially with 'Melanie'.

Odette Annable as 'Melanie' (The Tough, Sexy Chick)

I keep saying that she's way cooler than I'll ever be.

I mean she picks locks, drives motorcycles, cracks codes, wears leather jackets... the girl is cool.

There actually is a lot to train for and I think the main thing is bulking up to make it believable that she is this bad-ass. It was also my resolution for the new year - I got a trainer and she's really kicking my ass 3 times a week so I wanna bulk it up.

Alphonso McAuley as 'Cash' (The Tech Guru)

He's a high-tech dude so he makes sure that all of the systems are shut down if you will. He's good, he gets the job done and that's why he's on the team.

But his pranks, that's like his thing, he's very serious about them and he's the Top of the Hill.

We need to break into the homes of America and say 'We're here, we're here now!'
