Default Opening Credits where Star is on Location...

To create the opening for The Mary Tyler Moore Show, MTM, along with Valerie Harper, went on location in Minneapolis, and showed her all over the city.
What other shows did this?

Valerie Harper was filmed in New York City for the opening of Rhoda
Cloris Leachman was filmed in San Fransisco for the Phyllis opening.
Bob Newhart was filmed in Chicago for The Bob Newhart Show opening.

Here's a couple where most of the show was filmed on location:

Karl Malden on a San Francisco cable car for the opening of The Streets of San Francisco

Jack Lord atop a building for the opening of Hawaii Five-O (1968 series)

That was the famous Ilikai hotel in Honolulu. The show also did quite a bit of on location filming in various episodes at that hotel.

Can't believe I forgot this one --In 1996 or 97, the cast of The Drew Carey Show came to Cleveland one Sunday to create a new opening for the second season (Cleveland Rocks. They filmed at Jacob's Field and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame among some other sites. I got to be an extra in one of the tapings.

Another filmed in Phili, the opening for Angie. From what I remember Donna Pescow and Robert Hays are seen around the city.

Marlo Thomas, of course, is all over NYC for the opening of That Girl.
Doris Day filmed on location for The Doris Day Show Opening in San Francisco.

In the opening of Family Matters they are all riding their bikes in Chicago. You can see the city as the camera pulls away from them.

In the beginning of The Jefferson's, you see them in the cab on the way to their apartment and it shows a lot of the city. Then you see the apartment building.

In Good Times, you see the part of the city where the Evans's live.

You see the father in the limo on the way to pick up the boys and you see the boys playing basketball on Diff'rent Strokes.

On Dr. Quinn, you see her on the wagon on the way to Colorado Springs and it shows a lot of the country. It's beautiful.

Chico and the Man. The stars don't appear, but in both opening and closing there is alot of footage panning down streets in East Los Angeles.
