I just discovered Hazel on dvd, and just absolutely love this show. She's hilarious!
I was just watching an episode where the Baxters are at the dining room table for breakfast, when they hear a fire engine going by. Next thing you know the milkman comes in to serve their meal. Mr. B is like, "Who are you?", and the milkman is like oh I'm Henry, Hazel had to take off. The next scene, the milk truck arrives at the scene of the fire, and Hazel jumps out and runs over to the firetruck, and says com'n boys lets put this fire out. Funny stuff!! All in a typical day for Hazel! And this was just the opening scene! |

I couldn't agree with you more. I watched Hazel when it was on originally, and hadn't seen it in over 40 years. Now enjoying Hazel all over again! |

Markway895, I'm glad you discovered the pleasure of Hazel. It is a fantastic show that I have been aware of since the early 1970s when I was a kid and it was run in syndication.
I was overjoyed to hear that Shout! Factory is going to be releasing more seasons of this show. Can't wait!!!! |

My name on this message board is "Hazel Anyday", meaning I could watch Hazel anyday. Clever? Well, I've been a fan of Hazel since I saw it as a little kid in the '60's. Yes, I'm old. But Hazel disappeared from TV after the late '60's perhaps '71 or '72 was the last time I had seen it. That was until 1989 when I had gotten cable and was thrilled to see Hazel again when the Family Channel was running it daily. But they didn't show the b/w shows, (they did show about 3 or 4 b/w shows, but that was it) they showed the color episodes though, then when it came on my local channel here and then again on WOR TV I was thrilled each time to record it again and again. Some episodes were skipped when Family channel ran the series and same with WOR, some episodes they skipped, but thankfully I had recorded both of their runs and was able to assemble a complete set using mostly WOR shows and then filling in the missing WORs with Fam channel shows. Now it's on again on Antenna TV and I'm thrilled to see Hazel in the clearest and best looking color versions I've ever seen! Really a treat. Why more people don't know about Hazel has always been a puzzle to me. Same story with Real McCoys, used to watch it in the '60's then it also went away about 1968 and I never saw it again till the late 1990's when TNN brought it back. It was truly great to see Real McCoys again after not seeing it for 30 years.

This show on ANT TV is just wonderful. I remember it well from when I first started seeing it when I was 10 yrs old in 1961 & I am now 60. I even remember a few of the episodes now after all these years-incredible! My mom (now 81) & I would watch this together each friday evening just before we would leave for her bowling league back in '61-62.
This show filmed during a time in America when all was well and good & we all pulled together for the common good of our country. Just good old fashioned AND CLEAN viewing back then. A show like this would not be a hit today because it had no sex, drugs and and no dark side to it, unlike the comically mean spirited crap of today. If had children today I would steer them into shows like this and they would be better off for it I believe. The 60's were the best of times and viewing Hazel just takes me back to those glorious days. The entire cast really liked each other and one can see that chemistry on each episode. When they show the scenes of everyone sitting down for dinner I just wish I could enjoy some of Hazel's cooking too. |
