TV Nickelodeon to Re-Air Beloved '90s Nick Series

If you’re a twentysomething who’s been jonesing for repeats of All That and Clarissa Explains it All, then this news is for you: EW has learned exclusively that starting this fall, TeenNick will dust off old faves like Rugrats, Kenan & Kel, Pete & Pete, The Amanda Bynes Show, All That and Clarissa and air them in a new midnight-to-2 a.m. programming block dubbed (appropriately enough) The ’90s Are All That. The tween cabler came up with the idea after seeing the huge interest in early Nickelodeon programming on social media sites. There are several Facebook pages — followed by millions of fans — that are devoted to Nickelodeon shows from the ’90s.

“At the time, we were completely devoted to that audience ages 9, 10, and 11,” Keith Dawkins, senior VP and general manager of TeenNick, tells EW. “It was ground-breaking and for the young viewers, a powerful and pivotal time in their lives. Those kids who are now 22, 23 and 24 want to bring that back.”

Over time, TeenNick hopes to use the retro block to showcase other ’90s programming and movies. So if you didn’t get a chance to see Good Burger then…

All That, The Amanda Show, Kenan & Kel, and Rugrats are all great shows. I can't wait to watch! Now if they could only add Are You Affraid of the Dark to the list...

I kind of wish they were doing this on Nickelodeon since I don't get TeenNick, but I am still happy nonetheless.

Welcome Freshmen

None of those are listed on the schedule.

I hope Disney will follow Nickelodeon's lead and re-air some of their 90s shows too.

Awesome!!!! Just wish they would replace a few of those shows with, say, Hey Dude, Welcome Freshmen, Roundhouse, etc. but other than that I'm thrilled.

Adam--If you read Pavan's blog, you'll see that Salute Your Shorts is included!!!!

Does anyone else feel that this is a lot of programming to cram into a 2 hour block? I mean, not only are they planning repeats of Nickelodeon shows, but they also want to add other 90's sitcoms and movies? I know, it will be varied over time, but still. Just an idea and it would probably hurt Nick at Nite's ratings, but why not revamp Nick at Nite into "The 90's Are All That?" They could just limit their sitcoms to 90's (i.e., Familiy Matters, Home Improvement, and The Nanny) air various classic Nickelodeon shows, and throw in a 90's movie here and there, all from 8 PM to 6 AM. All of the newer non-90's shows could be moved to TV Land. It's kind of a long shot, but it would give them a lot more time to work with. Although, I guess the same could be done on Teen Nick, if they just expanded the block.

I love this, in the future I'd like to see the following shows added:

Fifteen
Welcome Freshmen
The Roundhouse
The Secret World Of Alex Mac
The Mystery Files of Shelby Woo
Are You Afraid Of The Dark (classic 90's version, not the stupid 2000's remake)
Hey, Dude

Though not a 90's show nor a Nickelodeon Show, it was a staple to Nickelodeon...

You Can't Do That On Television!

I would hope that this 90's Block would help spark a NickRewind Channel and maybe once Disney Junior is launched as a Station, they can have ALL the tween/teen stuff be thrown on the morning schedule and by the evening The Disney Channel can bring back Vault Disney. (If Disney's policy is to have their films/shows to be developed every 10 years...then Vault Disney SHOULD return by next year)!
