I think the main problem with this spinoff was the supporting cast wasn't that strong. I recently saw an episode I DVR'd from ALN channel and Linda ('Alice') Lavin guest starred. MTM really missed the boat by not making her a series regular. Anybody agree about the cast? Disagree?

Somebody said the same thing about Charlotte Rae.
2 of the most popular supporting castmembers past away, Barbara Colby and Judith Lowery. I often wonder what could have been if they survived, particularly Colby, who filmed just 3 episodes. |

I think Linda Lavin was already a semi regular on Barney Miller and was probably preparing for "Alice" for the next season.
