^no prob.

I love how some companies still put out VHS releases. I know House of the Devil had it in 2009 but don't know if any more came out since.

It's kind of fitting for Sledgehammer since it's one of first of the straight to video releases.

Default Retro Slashers Interview: Scorpion Releasing

With the recent news of Scorpion Releasing’s slasher titles on tap for DVD – Humongous, House on Sorority Row, Final Exam, The Carpenter, The Incubus and American Nightmares as well as other genre titles – Retro Slashers conducted a brief q&a with company president Walter Olsen (yes, brother of Bill Olsen who runs Code Red – unearthing horror must run in the family).

Retro Slashers: Can you say if any release dates are already set, or what order the discs will come out in?

Scorpion: Final Exam and Devil Within Her are set for September, with October being Humongous, Nothing But The Night, and perhaps one more (one we haven’t announced yet), and House on Sorority Row and Carpenter will kick start November.

Retro Slashers: House on Sorority Row was most recently released in 2009 – with this being the third edition, what similarities or differences will it have?

Scorpion: Sorority is now a brand new HD master from the original InterNegative, and will be a progressive scan encode, unlike the previous Liberation DVD edition. We already have 3 new on-camera interviews (actress Harley Jane Kozak, composer Richard Band. and producer Igor Kantor), and are trying to do more, plus all previous extras from the earlier editions are being carried over. We also have about three TV spots that I believe the other DVD editions did not have.

Retro Slashers: Any chance of getting Michael Ironside for a commentary track or interview for American Nightmare? Ditto Wings Hauser for The Carpenter?

Scorpion: I tried to get Wings Hauser, but never heard back from him nor his representative, and same with Ironside. But as they say, never say never. American Nightmare will feature an audio commentary with Producer Paul Lynch moderated by Katarina.

Retro Slashers: Will Final Exam be a reissue of the BCI’s version?

Scorpion: Not really. Ours is a new master in HD from the original negatives, and we also have a new audio commentary with the producer Myron Meisel that is moderated by Katarina and it is quite informative. And, of course, all previous extras will be there as well.

Retro Slashers: Humongous‘ video release was very dark, and many have speculated if that was the photography or the video transfer. Can you settle that for us?

Scorpion: Little bit of both, as the director wanted it to be a bit dark, but not as dark as the video. That was just a bad video job.

Retro Slashers: What sort of extras do you hope to assemble for The Incubus?

Scorpion: We cant say what for now, but we are arranging some on-camera interviews as we speak.

Retro Slashers: Lastly, how much will your horror hostess Katarina be a part of these releases?

Scorpion: She does a small skit in character, an intro before the film, and after the film ends, she does an epilogue. She does not interrupt these films in any way, and if you want to skip her segments altogether, you can, by clicking the play film option on the menu. And unlike some other horror hostesses, Katarina also moderates all the new audio commentaries. It was a delight to see someone who has made a name for herself in WWE and TNA want to speak with these filmmakers and ask them questions.

Scorpion Releasing can be found on the internet at www.scorpionreleasing.com.

I'm definitely getting Humongous.

I might double-dip Final Exam, I already have the Code Red release, but I'm a sucker for commentaries.

I have a previous DVD release of The Incubus, I like the film, just not enough to double-dip for the extras.

Will probably also get American Nightmare, and The Carpenter, both of which I enjoyed. The Carpenter is part of the slew of executed killers come back for revenge films that popped up in the late 80's which I love.

Default SAVAGE STREETS is coming back!

CODE RED DVD has acquired the North American rights to the cult classic SAVAGE STREETS starring cult icon Linda Blair. After her sister (Linnea Quigley) was gang raped by crazed gang members, Linda Blair goes into vengeance-action mode in this gritty 80's classic. The release will feature a brand new 2011 HD transfer that will make its debut only here in the USA. Extras will be ported over from the previous BCI disc, and it will include some other extras that didn't make it the first time around. This DVD will also feature the complete controversial uncensored commentary track - the track on the BCI edition had been edited for various reasons. And it will be progressively scanned, unlike the previous release. The streets will become savage again very soon! Check the Code Red website for updates and additional news.

I'll be getting Mother's Day '80 and Burial Ground Blu-Rays

Nightmare for sure, and The Nesting Blu-Ray not sure yet.

Bloody Birthday and The Baby depends on if they offer anything interesting enough that would make me want to double-dip as I already have them on DVD.

Default Covers & Details For 3 Slasher-Hybrid Blu-Rays

Streeting September 27 from Blue Underground is Lucio Fulci’s House by The Cemetery (1981), a unique blend of slasher and zombie flick. Check out the exhaustive laundry list of extras: “A Haunted House Story”: interviews with screenwriters Dardano Sacchetti and Elisa Briganti, “To Build a Better Death Trap”: interviews with cinematographer Sergio Salvati, makeup FX artists Giannetto De Rossi and Maurizio Trani, special FX artist Gino De Rossi and actor Giovanni De Nava, “Meet the Boyles”: interviews with Catriona MacColl and Paolo Malco, “Children of the Night”: interviews with child stars Giovanni Frezza and Silvia Collatina, “Tales of Laura Gittleson”: interview with actress Dagmar Lassander, “My Time With Terror”: interview with de Mejo, Deleted scene, Theatrical trailers, TV spot, Poster and still gallery. Cemetery also arrives on DVD the same date but will lack the first two of the listed special features, obviously for space reasons.

Not to be outdone by Arrow’s Maniac Cop BD, Synapse Films are working on a US release of the perfect action/slasher fusion with a pretty sharp cover and exclusive extras and interviews planned on top of the features from their original DVD release a few years back. Blu-Rays for Sam Raimi alumni titles Intruder and Thou Shalt Not Kill… Except are still being worked on, the company say.

The company also has the NY revenger The Exterminator (1980) on tap, it will include the original Dolby Stereo audio tracks for the first time, audio commentary by James Glickenhaus, and trailers/tv-spots. In his Exterminator article, Christian Sellers wrote: “The Exterminator was one of many films in the seventies and eighties which would portray the Big Apple as cesspit. Other notable examples include Taxi Driver, Maniac, Nightmare in a Damaged Brain and Basket Case.”

Default Halloween II Coming to Blu-Ray With Something Special

Universal Home Entertainment is prepping a 30th anniversary edition of the Rick Rosenthal-directed Halloween II for Blu-Ray.

The Digital Bits reports that the film will arriving on September 26 and extras will include an alternate ending along with...

Terror in the Aisles.

Featuring Donald Pleasence and Nancy Allen, the 1984 Terror in the Aisles is a compilation of horror movie moments and trailers and has long been unavailable on DVD. Needless to say, this marks Terror's Blu-Ray debut.

Default Horror Express Blu-Ray/DVD Combo Release

One of the European horror films most deserving of a primo disc release finally gets one when 1973’s HORROR EXPRESS chugs onto a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack later this year. We got the scoop on the specs and the first look at the cover art.

Severin Films releases the disc set September 27, with a hi-def 1.66:1 transfer from the original negative. Horror legends Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing star as scientists who board the Trans-Siberian Railway in 1906 China for a trip to Russia—one that gets interrupted when an excavated frozen humanoid creature defrosts and begins stalking the passengers. The special features are:

• “Murder on the Trans-Siberian Express”: new interview with director Eugenio Martín

• “Notes from the Blacklist”: Producer Bernard Gordon discusses the McCarthy era

• The Guardian 1973 audio interview with Cushing

• “Telly and Me”: New interview With composer John Cacavas

• Introduction by Fango editor Chris Alexander

• Theatrical trailer

• Easter egg

I'm more excited about Terror In The Aisles than Halloween II....they used to air it all the time on TV.

I wonder if we'll ever see the release of other 80's compilations like Filmgore and The Best Of Sex & Violence.

It's also cool Horror Express is getting a nice release, another fave.

Yeah I was reading more about this and this hasn't seen a home release since the 1985 VHS.
