Q: I inherited an “Archie Bunker's Grandson Joey Stivic” doll, made by Ideal. It's in its original box with an instruction sheet and has never been played with. Is there any value to it?
A: The Joey Stivic doll was made by Ideal Toy Co. in 1976. Joey Stivic and Archie Bunker were characters on the TV series “All in the Family,” which ran from 1971 to 1979. Joey's birth was featured on the show in December 1975. Ideal advertised the drink-and-wet doll as “physically correct.” It caused a stir at the time because it was the first anatomically correct boy doll. Value: about $50. http://www.heraldnet.com/article/201...NG03/710219995 ![]()

I can't believe there was a "Joey Stivic" doll. I'm thinking its pretty rare, probably valuable. Kind of interesting he looks like Archie!
By the way, why is he naked, didn't he come with clothes? ![]() |

I just read this in my newspaper this morning and came here to post this but you beat me to it! LOL! I never knew about this doll!
I can't believe 'Joey Stivic' would be turning 35 this December. |

I remember the doll -- it was a testament to just how popular AITF was in those years. I think the reason I remembered is that most of the other AITF merchandising was pretty ordinary by comparison (and I was a big fan of the series).
Remember the discussion on the show, when Archie wanted "Archibald Stanislaus Stivic" for the baby's name (Mike wanted Stanislaus for the first name, IIRC), but Mike pointed out those initials would not have been acceptable...?

Interesting they had a Joey Stivic doll, but no Archie doll.

I used to have a little pinback button that read: "Be Dead from the Neck Up: Vote Bunker!" I don't remember much else in the way of merchandise that alluded to Archie in particular.
