Could this be yet another step toward finding out the identity of the titular mom? Rachel Bilson is making a return appearance on "How I Met Your Mother", according to EW's Ausiello Report.



Series creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas confirm that the erstwhile "O.C." player will reprise her role as grad student Cindy and drop in on the gang at MacLaren's bar when the CBS sitcom returns for its sixth season this fall.

"The season premiere is going to be very much informed by her presence," said Bays.









Fans of the show recall that Bilson guest-starred on the series' 100th episode as a grad school student and love interest for architecture professor Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor).

While Bilson's initial casting and her character's crackling chemistry with Ted set off much speculation that she could be the titular mother (whose identity had been hanging over the heads of the show's viewers since "HIMYM" debuted back in 2005), turned out that Cindy was only the mom-to-be's jealous roommate.




"HIMYM" returns for its sixth season on Mon., Sept. 20, at 8PM on CBS.
