Confused 'Hot In Cleveland' Is A Remake of 'The Golden Girls'

I just realized it!

TV Land's new hit sit-com is basically a revamp of Golden Girls, but with slightly different age brackets.

Watch an episode and you'll soon enough realize that tart-tongued Wendy Malick is basically the modern day Bea Arthur.

Sweet-faced Valerie Bertinelli is the new Betty White.

Been-around Jane Leeves is the nouveau Rue McClanahan.

And witheringly sarcastic Golden Girl Betty White has turned into Estelle Getty.

And I love it! The show is really fun--as long as it's not opposite reruns of the real Golden Girls

That's pretty good. I never thought of it like that.

No it isn't! I mean just because Betty White is on it and there are 4 girls does not make it a Golden Girls remake. It is partially like Golden Girls but I would not say remake becase The only Golden Girl looking for love was Blanche and in HIC all the girls have a romance interest. It is more like a Sex In The City remake with an the older wiser woman who gives advice. It is like the Golden Girls but not a major comparison.

Well, they share some similarities and have similar archtypes but overall it's a pretty different show in terms of tone, style and execution. Not every show with four or five females is a clone of The Golden Girls.
