Movie The Jeffersons:The Movie May Work if Done Right

The Jeffersons: Nobody can ever take the place of Sherman Hemsley and the late Isabel Sanford as George and Louise (“Weezie”) Jefferson, respectively. But it would be interesting to see a movie version about this African American couple who become rich, thus movin’ on up to the east side to a deluxe apartment. Script aside, the success of a film version of The Jeffersons would have to rely heavily on a phenomenal cast. So casting Nick Cannon as George and Beyonce as Weezie won’t do.

That's what destroyed the Bewitched movie, imo. When the focus is one big name celebrities playing the principle roles, instead of focusing on the script, it bombs.

If they made a "the Jeffersons" movie (more than likely they will in the distant future, knowing Hollywood), who would you like to see as the characters? Here is my cast list of those who I think in my opinion would be great in the roles:

GEORGE JEFFERSON: Martin Lawrence

LOUISE JEFFERSON: Viola Davis

FLORENCE JOHNSTON: Paula Jai Parker

LIONEL JEFFERSON: Nick Cannon

JENNY WILLIS JEFFERSON: Zoe Saldana

TOM WILLIS: Doug Davidson

HELEN WILLIS: Judith Scott

ALLAN WILLIS: Greg Rikaart

HARRY BENTLEY: Steve Coogan

MOTHER JEFFERSON: Margaret Avery

RALPH THE DOORMAN: Seth Rogen

So what do you all think of this castlist? Feel free to add who you think in your opinion would fit the roles.
