With the St. Louis Cardinals wandering around the middle of the pack in runs scored, Mark McGwire's first season as hitting coach has been, meh, OK. Away from the batting cages, McGwire's team is producing — check that, reproducing — way above the league average. Big Mac and wife Stephanie McGwire hit a triple on Tuesday, giving birth to three girls. Holy cow, what was in that, Andro? (But seriously, folks.) McGwire, 46, was on hand for the delivery and is not expected to return to coaching duties before Friday. During a pregame media session, Cards manager Tony La Russa received a text message from McGwire, who said the babies are "doing awesome" and that "Steph is great." This is obviously wonderful news for the McGwires, who already have two boys together since being married in 2002. You also might remember Matt McGwire (now of college age), who was a bat boy with the Cards during the home run chase of 1998. (He's from a previous marriage.)

I'd like to have Mrs. McGwire tested for performance enhancing delivery room drugs.
