Default Reuinions that should have never happened.

This thread is dedicated to TV show reuinon movies/specials that should have never occurred. Name a show(s) and the reason as to why the special should have never happened.

For me, it would be "The Beverly Hillbillies" in 1981. Replacing Jethro and Granny Moses was a no no. Irene Ryan died in 1973. Maybe I can give them a pass for finding a replacement but Jethro was alive and maybe they should have worked harder to get him. Plus having Linda Kaye (Petticoat Junction) in the movie as someone else always bothered me since she would crossover from "Pettiocat" to "Green Acres" and "Beverly" as her original character "Betty Jo". That is my 3 cents. Anyone else?

and it just shouldnt have happened because too many people from the cast had passed on and it was such a dark morbid premise centering around writing a eulogy for alan brady;s funeral also the sex jokes didnt belong in there and shoehorning ray romono into it was unnesscery

"Ther Dick Van Dyke Show Revisited"was really awful. You remember the episode "Three Letters From One Wife"?about the show that Rob submitted called "Project Greatness"?If they had followed along the lines of that episode,it would have been worth something. But no-And it was a good part when Rob (older, and with glasses)reliving the "good old days"and had his hand around Laura as both sat on the Ottoman of their old home, curtly told Ray Romano to "beat it".

and Raymond Bailey had died too so Mr. Drysdale wasn't on it. It was a very ill conceived movie.

As much as I love Mary Tyler Moore and Valerie Harper (and their characters), the "Mary and Rhoda" movie (and I think possible pilot for a series) really hit a dull note with me. It was great to see the two together again, but the writing was pretty weak.

I didn't even watch it. I might have if they united the whole MTM cast. I guess I didn't miss much.

That Facts of Life reunion movie was pretty dumb. I might give it a pass, if Jo was there. Still, it was fun to see the other four principles together again.

I agree with Mary & Rhoda being bad, yet still it was fun to see the 2 in character again. That's the way I feel about The Dick Van Dyke Show Revisited. I loved seeing Dick and Mary back in character as Rob and Laura, after 40 years. But the plot got pretty far fetched.

I actually like Dick Van Dyke revisited. I thought it was written well. Nice little reunion there. I did not realize that Yetta from "The Nanny" was Millie from the old series. LOL. I also liked the reunion movie for FOL. I remember the facts of life board was bullistic with excitement when that movie came out. I was gonna do one of my contests where I was giving first run recordings from NBC away for free but on my way to access a computer with internet, I got into an auto accident so the contest was canceled. I had my dad post a message informing everyone what had happened. That was nine years ago since that happened here on the boards. The time is slipping away. LOL.

Cool

I enjoyed The Dick Van Dyke Show Revisited. I thought it was well written and was true to the original characters, The only thing that would have made it better is if Morey Amsterdam had lived long enough to participate in the movie. I'll concede it was a bit of a stretch to have Sally married to Stacey Petrie. But I'm sure that was done just so they could include Jerry Van Dyke in the reunion. But I enjoyed seeing Jerry/Stacey in the reunion movie especially in light of the fact that both Morey Amsterdam and Jerry Paris had passed away and therefore their characters were absent.

Actually, Sally wasn't married to Stacy, but some other guy she dated way back. But, in the storyline Stacy and Millie were dating.
