well it should be noted that there could be others out there. Who ever heard of Walter Rice, Phyllis Strub or the Mcdonald's shooting, before those segments surfaced. It's fun to fantasize about.

I know the actress who played the role of Wanda Jean Mays. She was in Wanda's aunt and uncle's house, and the aunt (or mother) took her in Wanda's room and showed her Wanda's jewelry and clothes layed out. She drank coffee at the kitchen counter with the uncle. It was quite an experience, and one she's looked back at a lot with questions over the years.

Very interesting story about the Sharon Davis segment. I wonder what on earth was said in that letter. Also, I thought someone had John Purvis. It's definitely on the site that cannot be named, although I'm pretty clueless as to where it originated.

Good catch. I meant to say, the full segment. The update did make it to Lifetime. I'm a bit baffled why they would air an update to a case they never aired, but I guess something is better than nothing. I will make the appropriate correction. |

My theory on the John Purvis case is that they were preparing a segment for the spin-off series "Final Appeal" on Purvis but "Final Appeal" got axed before they had a chance to air his story. However, there were some pretty significant developments in the case around that time including the arrests of Paul Serio and Paul Hamwii. So, they did not air a full segment on Purvis, but gave us a mini-story and an update on his release.
Several stories that were supposed to air on "Final Appeal" were aired on UM later that season after FA's cancellation. Examples include Luis Diaz and Rolando Cruz (definitely) and possibly Rick McCue and Michael Lloyd Self. The Thomas Drake story was supposed to be recycled into a UM episode but never made it. In fact, the Spike airing may be the first time Drake's story was ever televised. |

That makes sense about Purvis. I guess Cosgrove Meurer was quite optimistic about "Final Appeal" in selecting all those stories to air when the show about a month or so if I remember correctly. JS did you see my post from a few months back where I mentioned Spike actually aired the entire (well I'm sure some editing was done) Tony Miller segment? It was very interesting to see the whole story unfold. |

Yes, I heard that it was on. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see it, as I can never remember when the new UMs are playing so I seldom catch them. What were your thoughts? Did you believe he was innocent? I found some articles online indicating that another man confessed to some of the robberies at the time. Also, the robbery allegedly committed by Tony Miller fit the MO of the other robberies this guy confessed to. I can't recall if he confessed to that specific robbery, but I thought the article indicated that he didn't, probably because a police officer was shot.

Well I wish I remembered more of it to tell you but its been a while. I saved it to my dvr but then had to get the box replaced so lost it. I'm sure it will air again just have no idea when. I do think he's innocent and pretty much always have. I wonder what he's doing today. You should just dvr all the UM's on Spike like I do. You can tell by the beginning if its something you want to watch. They are starting to air some "new" ones on June 2nd I think at 2 am central if you care. |

The only thing I have ever seen was that update that aired on UM. I do remember him well though. He had a great smile. He seemed so happy to be exonerated. It blows my mind that this show was only on for 6 weeks and they cleared a case. The show was also going to feature John Purvis who was subsequently exonerated and the real killers arrested. Kind of makes one wonder what might have been had they given it more of a chance to find an audience. Quote:
Why would I care what time it's on Central? Did you forget where I live already?! Sedaka was pretty cool, btw. ![]() |

No, I kept my composure. Good thing too, as no one would have been there to catch me if I did faint. NO ONE wanted to go with me!! Can you believe that?! I even sat through an Arlo Guthrie performance a month earlier for my mother and she wouldn't reciprocate. Oh well, I am my own best company sometimes. ![]() Last edited by crystaldawn : 05-23-2010 at 05:30 PM. |

Wow that is surprising, maybe they just didn't want to be seen with you... You could have came and picked me up... Speaking of cases never aired on Lifetime, I think Missy Munday qualifies. They did show it recently on Spike and was surprised to hear that she did serve some very small time. Can't remember exactly but it may have been at a juvenile center. I recently spoke with someone who knows her and she was made aware that her story was shown recently on Spike and she was not happy to say the least!! Apparently UM did ask her to appear in the original segment and she declined btw. |

Man, that's cold... Quote:
I always figured Lifetime never showed Missy's story because she was a minor when the murder occurred. Interesting then that SPIKE thought it was in the clear to telecast. I can imagine she was upset. I mean, I'm sure she wasn't exactly upfront with many people in her life about her past. |

You will all have to forgive me,as I am brand new to this msg board.
I am the ULTIMATE UM freak! I go to bed with Robert Stack every night (his autographed picture sits on my nightstand). We are in love. And I am delusional. Anyway, happened upon this thread. Now whats this all about? UM segments rarely seen? Where can I see these. Besides my ultimate collection set (which have all been watched 438 times, and doesn't even have half of all the segments ever made), I also watch everyday on youtube. I DO NOT like the new ones one bit. So, I don't watch those. Again,if I sound out of the loop,I am,and I apologise. Where to see all these rarely aired segments? I guess what I'm looking for here is some guidance on how to jump into this msg board. I'm looking for the "duh" things that everyone who contributes on here already knows,so I don't become annoying, looking for what everyone is talking about. I've been watching UM since it's inception,as a child (I'm 28 this week). I've seen all of them, but there are so many I can't find, and others I have forgotten about. That being said,I'm up to date on most of the cases aired. I don't do the UFO's (except the Allagash abductions-I just love that one),nor the psychic ones. I like some of the miracles episodes, and many of the haunting ones- not that any of those type episodes can be "updated" anyway. So,with all that being said,I'd like to join in different discussions, but just not sure where to start. Again, I apologise for my annoying "newness" here. Until recently, I though I was the only person completely obsessed with UM, nice to see there are other huge fans! The majority of my days is spent watching episodes over, and over, thus affording everyone the knowledge that I am,in fact a complete and utter nerd. Any info, advice? ![]() |
