Ohio man says he bulldozed home to keep bank from foreclosing and taking his property

MOSCOW, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio man says he bulldozed his home after a bank began foreclosure proceedings and says he won't let the bank take his carpet business either.

Terry Hoskins of Moscow in southwest Ohio says he has struggled with the RiverHills Bank over his Clermont County home for years and had problems with the Internal Revenue Service. He says the IRS placed liens on his store and commercial property and the bank claimed his house as collateral.

Hoskins says after spending "tons of money" on attorneys he just had enough and two weeks ago bulldozed the home, 25 miles southeast of Cincinnati.

When asked if he would level the store, Hoskins said he would do "what it takes."

Messages were left for the bank and its attorney.

IRS spokeswoman Jodie Reynolds said individual taxpayer information is private and federal law prevents her from commenting.

Boy this has been quite a week for the IRS! I think these guys could make their lives a lot easier if they just paid their taxes.

Wow. The other guy burned his house down and flew a plane into a building. Now this guy bulldozed his house.

Of course, this latest incident happens in my home state of Ohio. *SIGH* At least it's at the opposite end of the state!!

I saw a story about this on the News. He totally levelled his house.

Me, too - and I'm sure they're keeping a close eye on his business in case he tries to level that!

The bank was foreclosing on his property and had claimed the house as collateral. The IRS also had liens on his business and they'd had problems with him for years. So it'll be interesting to see how/if they charge him with anything.

The Bank was in the process of Forclosing the house. This means the house is the bank's property and it is a crime to destroy someone else's property.
