Gary Unmarried has Short season 2-only 17 eps? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I just read where this show will be on hiatus beginning in the middle of March, after the season finale ends. I wonder why this show only received a second season order of only 17 episodes, which is typically less than season orders of 20+ episodes for most series? Now, I am wondering if this show may not make it to a third season? I thought that it was doing reasonably well in the ratings.

The last 2 new episodes did under 6 million viewers. I think a third season is doubtful at this point.. depending on what CBS has in development for the fall. They only had 20 episodes in Season 1.
