Icon15 The Empire State Building is Lit Up to Celebrate China's 60 Years of Communism!?!

On Wednesday evening, the top of the Empire State Building will temporarily glow bright red – a tribute to the 60th anniversary of the Communist Revolution in China.

Predictably, the decision by Empire State Building officials has more than a few in a snit. The folks over at the Fox News website are running an item on a “protest” of the light show – though the protest in the article seems to have been mostly nudged along by the folks at Fox News – and Twitter is alive with worried tweets.

Oh No

Does it seem strange to anyone else that a country (USA) that has fought wars to stop the spread of communism is now celebrating communism?

Somehow it just isn't right. If ever there should be massive protests it should be now!

I'm personally not a fan of communism, but what's the problem with having the Empire State Building lit up for this event?

The management of the Empire State Building has control over when and for what they use the building to celebrate something.

I guess the Chinese must have a lot of pull in there. We also do a lot of trade with them so there are a lot of big bucks involved between the US and China.

I was going to say the same thing. And I'd like to know how the families of those who were killed fighting against communism feel having that "tribute" now.

I'd love to know what bonehead came up with that idea?!

There were big protests yesterday by Tibetians who have been killed under Chinese Rule.

Because Communism is the opposite of what this nation is all about.

Not surprising, considering the new "leadership" we have in this country these days. I bet our Fearless Leader had something to do with the decision.

Exactly! And when have you ever seen the Chinese celebrate or honour democracy in the last hundred years? And my bet is that you won't.

And don't get me started on trade with China. We're a bunch of saps - still willing to trade with them because of cheap goods, when more and more we're finding those goods are downright dangerous to us. I swear it's only because there's billions of them that they don't wipe themselves out with poisonous and inferior products they produce.
