In later episodes, I hear a lot of cheering when she enters a room. Is she some kind of kiddie star or something special ?

She missed a season because of an eating disorder. Viewers were probably glad she was back.

Yeah that must have been episode one of season six, Lets Get Physical. They cheered because she missed the past 20 episodes, appearing in only episodes 1 and 3 of season 5.
