GEICO Cuts Ads from Glenn Beck's Show GEICO has agreed to no longer run its iconic car-insurance advertisements during the Glenn Beck Program, which broadcasts on the Fox News Channel cable network, the African-American advocacy organization ColorofChange.org said Wednesday. The insurer, known for its ads featuring cavemen and a chatty gecko with a cockney accent, has joined a growing list of advertisers who are steering clear of Beck, a self-described "rodeo clown" and conservative commentator with a penchant for petulance and over-the-top criticism of President Barack Obama and other Democratic leaders. Earlier this month, GEICO instructed its ad buyer "to redistribute its inventory of rotational spots" to other Fox-TV programs, ColorofChange said in a statement, citing an email received from GEICO. "As of August 4, GEICO no longer runs any paid advertising spots during Mr. Beck's program," the email read. Among other sponsors who have pulled their ads from Beck's show are household products companies Procter & Gamble (PG) and SC Johnson, and another insurer, Progressive Insurance (PGR), ColorofChange said. Progressive Insurance rep Cristy Cote said that the company wants to "avoid programming that we believe our customers and potential customers might find extremely offensive." The organization has been urging advertisers to boycott Beck's show, which airs at 5 p.m. weeknights, for what it calls Beck's hateful rhetoric, including comments he made about Obama being '"a racist" who "has a deep-seated hatred for white people." Critics say that Beck stirs up division and hatred and feeds misinformation to his audience in an emotional, entertaining way, which, unfortunately, is taken seriously. A recent example includes Beck inspiring anti-health care reform protesters to disrupt town hall meetings. The Fox News Channel, generally, is known for its conservative stance and its criticism of liberal leaders throughout the government, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. The network is a subsidiary of News Corp. (NWS), run by media-mogul Rupert Murdoch. News Corp.'s other holdings include The Wall Street Journal, a publication renowned for its conservative editorial stances. ColorofChange founder James Rucker announced GEICO's decision in a column published on HuffingtonPost.com on Wednesday afternoon. ColorofChange is hoping to enlist more people in its effort to pull ads from Beck's show. To date, it said, 75,000 members of the organization have signed a petition asking executives at specific companies to drop their support for the show. In his column today, Rucker asked supporters outside the organization to also sign the petition. |

If only they would cut the ads off from other shows too.

Anyone who watches Glenn Beck's show knows that he doesn't engage in hateful rhetoric. More of the Left who only love Free Speech if they agree with it.

Contrary to what Glenn Beck says, Barack Obama does NOT hate whites.

UPDATED: Obama Official Linked to Racially Charged Boycott of Glenn Beck A racially charged activist group called “Color of Change” founded by Van Jones, a special advisor to the Obama Administration, is trying to silence popular radio and Fox News personality Glenn Beck by calling for a boycott of Beck’s TV advertisers. On July 28th, Beck made a comment on the Fox & Friends morning show about Obama’s reaction to the arrest of Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr. During the discussion of “Professor-Gate,” Beck connected the President’s past association with Rev. Jeremiah Wright to Obama’s comment that Cambridge police officer, Sgt. James Crowley, acted stupidly. Though Beck acknowledged most of the Obama administration is in fact white, he concluded that the President’s world experience made him a “racist.” Now “Color of Change” has bullied at least five of Beck’s big advertisers -- SC Johnson, Progressive Insurance, Geico, Procter & Gamble and Nexus Lexis -- to pull their ads from Beck’s national cable program. Jones, the founder of “Color of Change,” was named Special Advisor for Green Jobs at the White House Council on Environmental Quality -- a key administrative post -- this past March. Putting tax-payer dollars to dubious use, the not-for-profit organization has hired well-heeled Hollywood publicist Ken Sunshine to further instigate the boycott. For a related story go to RedState.com For the Hollywood connection to the Beck boycott, click here. UPDATE: HUMAN EVENTS has learned that SC Johnson’s Consumer Relations Center is disputing any withdraw of advertisements from Glenn Beck’s program claiming there is “potentially misleading information on the web,” issuing this statement to inquiring consumers: “SC Johnson has not pulled or cancelled advertising for the Glenn Beck show, as we never directed our advertising to this particular program. In general, our goal is to provide good, informative ads and we select those programs and/or networks that make the most sense given our consumer base.” Reports also claim that addition companies; Mens Wearhouse, Sargento, and State Farm Insurance will be excluding their ads from any rotation during Becks time slot. HUMAN EVENTS contacted Mens Wearhouse, Sargento, and State Farm to confirm these reports, our calls have not yet been returned. A FOX News spokesman has confirmed that although advertisers have moved their spots from Beck’s time slot they have not been lost from the network as a whole so there has been no lost revenue. This is a conflict of interest! An administration official silencing speech that is unfavorable is setting a very dangerous precedent in my opinion. |

If GEICO wants to pull their ads from shows that people actually watch, that's their choice, I guess.

I used to listen to him every day before my work schedule changed. Don't have cable so I've never seen the TV show. |

I really regret my decision last fall for voting for that man (and I use the term "man" loosely). Obama thinks I'm a "typical white male", full of prejudice and fear toward those different from me. I am deeply insulted at this accusation. Mr. "Celebrity" has no right to be my president. |
