When it rains, it pours...
...Blah.
I'm running into the same predicament Tara ran into late last year/earlier this year. I went in for my yearly female exam almost a month ago. Was told I would get the results from that appt in a few weeks. The "few weeks" ended this morning, when I got an email from the nurse who did my exam. The results came back abnormal, showing mild signs of pre-cancerous activity. It's not the first time I've had abnormal results... My yearly exam last year was abnormal as well. Last year, my nurse just told me to come back in for another exam six months after the original yearly exam. That was May '08 and November '08, respectively. November put me in the all-clear, as far as I know. Because the abnormal results have occurred AGAIN, this means I have to go in for a colposcopy. That's COLPOscopy - not to be confused with COLONscopy (ew). It's not a LEEP, at least (eek!), but still. UGH. I go back to the doc in two weeks to have this done. ****! This is putting a serious delay in the plans I had for myself. Geezus. I turn 24 in two months, this shouldn't be happening. Hopefully it turns out to be nothing. ![]() Sure could appreciate thoughts/good vibes my way. And don't worry, I'm not going to leave you guys hanging. I'll definitely update after I've had my appt & find out the results.

Hey Sweety - please know that if it IS something, it'll be in the very early stages and the treatments are so much better than they used to be - safer AND you don't lose your chance for children.
Al, you're strong - I'm sure you'll be fine. And of course, you'll be in all our throughts and prayers so we'll beat this **** for ya like you guys did for me. ![]() I'm going for my annual squish of the t*ts myself tomorrow, along with ultrasound and a bone density test and I'm a little nervous. Just cuz as you say, when it rains it pours and this year, even SO seems to be involved in a few floods. This sure sucks, but at the same time, this is why we do need to keep up on our annual visits - so stuff can be caugh and treated early with excellent results. ![]()

Hey, thanks, Cathie!
![]() I don't think I'll have any kids, but it's definitely good to know that most likely won't be compromised, at least. I've never had any serious health problems that required medical attention before... This is definitely getting my attention! ![]() Oh god, the mammogram. I am SO not looking forward to that when I reach 40. I'm sending YOU good vibes your way for your appt tomorrow! I'm sure you'll be just fine. I know the appointment part is no fun at all. Thanks again! |

Allison, I'm sort of in the same boat.
I had my mammogram with x-rays done back in March - the doctor found some abnormal tissue formations on my right breast that MAY or MAY NOT be cancerous. The doctor told me the same thing that your doctor told you - come back in six months for a follow-up mammogram (with an MRI this time around) to see what's going on with the tissue. My husband gave me the best advice - don't worry about it now and wait until September (my follow-up month) and see what happens then. Trust me - with my birthday the following month (October), I will be plenty nervous when follow-up time comes around. In the meantime, I can ask you to do the same thing - hang tight, don't worry about it and wait until your follow-up time - THEN - and ONLY THEN - start worrying about it. There's nothing more you can do until then.

Allison, Hon, be strong; the colposcopy procedure takes about twenty minutes and is not as horrible as it sounds; relatively painless; even if you do need to have the LEEP done, that is also not that bad; hang in there, sweetie; and if you need someone to talk to (because you know I have been there) send me a PM.
