Visiting these different message boards not only remind me of how I enjoyed these shows when I was a kid, but also buying (or reading for free at the drugstore) the satires of these sitcoms in MAD Magazine back in the 70s.
I think I still have the issue packed away somewhere where they spoof this show. calling it "One Dame At A Time". In the beginning of the satire, they spoof all the "rubbery expressions" Bonnie Franklin could contort her facial features into whenever she played a scene. It was priceless! Does anyone else remember this, or know if it's available on-line somewhere? (I also remember from the CBS 70s sitcoms: "Phoolish", "The Mary Tailor-Made Show", "Rhota", "Gall In The Family", and "The Jazzyslums".) |

I'm surprised they never did more sitcom satire on Mad TV!

Oh wow! I have the issuse packed away somehwere with 'Crappy Days', 'Welcome Back, Klodder', 'Churlie's Angels' and 'He's Company'! I recall 'The Olden Girls' (but never bought it ) as well as 'Lavoine and Shoiley' ( I think that's how they spelled the names) and 'Grossanne'. I think the time they started with "Grossanne" was the beginning of the downslide for MAD's satires (the artwork was bad and the writing was not funny). |
