Talking 'Thon Themes 4 N@N

How about this one: Battle of the Bulge.

For example:

1. I Love Lucy: Lucy goes on a crash diet to fit into a costume for Ricky's nightclub act.

2. Facts of Life: Sue Ann and Mrs. Garrett go on diets.

3. All in the Family: Archie's New Year's (?) diet, in which Quigley comes into Kelsey's when Archie tries to cheat.

4. Perfect Strangers: The Mypos Diet vs. the Larry Diet.

5. The Bob Newhart Show: I haven't seen this one, but I know there's a diet ep. called "Fat and Forty-One", or something like that.

Can anyone think of any others to add to this? What other theme 'thons should there be?

I think there should be a play/musical themed marathon w/ shows like:

Facts of Life--The "South Pacific" episode.

Head of the Class--The one where the put on "Little Shop of Horrors".

Brady Bunch--Where they put on "Snow White & the Seven Dwarves".

Gilligan's Island--Where they put on "Hamlet".

And I'm sure there's more.

For the dieting one, L&S had an episode called "Fat City Holiday", where they went to a weight watchers camp.

And for the play/musical one, L&S had 4 talent show episodes, and an episode where Shirley puts on a play called "Murder in Mother Goose Land"

"Well, Laverne is sort of childish" -Shirley

"Childish? Childish? Coming from a grown woman who throws tea parties for her stuffed cat!" -Laverne

"Well at least I don't sew L's on everything I wear!" -Shirley

"Well that would be pretty stupid considering your name's Shirley!" -Laverne

Why don't they ever put *us* in charge of programming at N@N? "Choose Your Own Sunday", indeed... how lame! Theme Sundays would be great! I loved it when they did it beofre, based on the 7 not-so-deadly sins!

To start it off, I think we would need 3 sundays devoted to the the Holy Trinity (as mentioned on a different board):

THE LOCKED-IN EPISODE
THE HAND-CUFFED EPISODE
THE FLASHBACK EPISODE

An "All Night Diner" theme weekend would be nice, too, offering episodes where the main characters are opperating or working in restaurants (I *still* wanna eat at Dead Lazlo's Place")!

I have one to add to the diet one.
Gilligan's Island-Skipper goes on a diet because he wants to get into the Navy when they get back to the U.S.

But they really should let us make up some themes for marathons. We'd do a lot better job than they do.

Head of the Class has also done the musicals "Hair" and "Grease".

I'll add the following for plays:

Perfect Strangers: "Wheat"
The Wonder Years: "Our Town"
The Brady Bunch: the talent night episode entitled "The Show Must Go On?" (Episode #82 IIRC)

I think it would great if N@N would show some movies. I know that Gilligan's Island and The Brady Bunch each had a few reunion movies, as did The Andy Griffith show. Facts of Life had a few movies, and I'm sure there are others.

How about a Natural Disasters theme?

Laverne & Shirley - "Welcome to Burbank" (Earthquake)
Facts of Life - "Flash Flood" (Flood)
Gilligan's Island - "Hi-Fi Gilligan" (I think it's a hurricane)

Or how about court episodes?

Laverne & Shirley - "Robot Lawsuit"
Gilligan's Island - "Plant You Now, Dig You Later"
Brady Bunch - "Fenders Benders"
Facts of Life - "Peekskill Law"

Or episodes with musical celebrities

Laverne & Shirley - "Laverne & Shirley Meet Fabian"
Gilligan's Island - "Don't Bug the Mosquitoes" (Well, they weren't real, but they were real on the show)
Brady Bunch - "Marcia Gets Davy Jones"
Facts of Life - "Star Struck"

There's always high school reunion episodes

Laverne & Shirley - "Whatever Happened to the Class of '56?"
Facts of Life - "The Reunion" (It's George's reunion)
All in the Family - Well, Edith has a reunion, but I don't know the name of the episode

And of course, Nepotism episodes. Episodes that have a star's relative in them

Laverne & Shirley - "The Second Almost Annual Shotz Talent Show" (Penny Marshall's mom and Cindy Williams's mom) and "The Note" (Penny Marshall's sister) and "Oh Hear the Angel's Voice" (Cindy Williams's sister...but it's not a speaking part so it doesn't really count)
Facts of Life - There are several episodes with Kim Fields's mom, but the only one I know by name is "The Graduate"
Gilligan's Island - "Gilligan's Mother-in-Law" (Jim Backus's wife) and "V For Vitamins" (Bob Denver's son)

(Can you tell I'm bored?)

How about "N@N Goes Commercial"? For example:

1. I Love Lucy: Vitameatavegamin (of course!).

2. The Brady Bunch: The family does a laundry-soap commercial "for a funny man who looks through his hands!"

3. All in the Family: Edith tries to do a laundry-soap commercial, but Archie keeps getting in the way....

4. Three's Company: Jack has a part in an airline commercial, and goes crazy after saying, "Oh, Miss" a lot.

What else should go in this subcategory?

Nick at Nite already had a "N@N Goes Commercial" marathon (same title too). I remember because that's when I taped the Honeymooners commercial episode and then never watched it...

how about a MUSICAL GUEST A THON- a night devoted to showing episodes that feature musical guest ( ei- facts of life with Stacie Q.) althought i am not sure what show other than facts would have had musical guest.

or what about a signing one when they show episodes that featuer the characters forming a band or group or sining.

or maybe a flashback one- when they show episodes that take the characters back in time. like when facts of life went back to the 50's.
