Gene Rodenberry, the creator of "STAR TREK", first wanted DeForest Kelly to play Spock.

Andy Gibb was the first solo artist to have his first three singles go to number one in America.

"The Twist" by Chubby Checker is the only song to go to number one on the charts on two seperate occasions. First in 1960, then again in 1962.

Michael J. Fox's middle name is Andrew. He changed his name to Michael J. Fox because there was already an actor with the name Michael Fox and he didn't want to be known as Michael A. Fox. The "J" was inspired by character actor Michael J. Pollard.

The "J" was also inserted so that he could register with the Screen Actor's Guild. The SAG only allows one name to be registered so he had to use a middle initial to avoid confusion with the other Michael Fox.

Alan Alda's real name is Alphonso D'Abruzzo, his father had changed his name to Robert Alda for the acting business, so Alan used Alda and his father suggested Alan for his first name, and he reluctantly agreed. His wife Arlene still calls him "Fonzie"

Wayne Rogers first auditioned for the role of Hawkeye on "MASH". He din't get it; but as he was walking out he picked up a copy of the script, paged through it, saw Trapper and said "Hey, who's this other guy? Let me audition for that role". He did, and got it (obviously) and in so doing, made Lauren and others happy (and still does)

When McLean Stevenson got the role of Col. Blake on "MASH" they asked him if he had ever read the book or seen the movie. He hadn't done either so they told him to see the movie to get a feel for the character. This was 1971 and the movie was still playing (it came out in 1970) but only at a small handful of theaters. So he looked in the paper and finally found one, about a half hour away. He drove to it, went up and bought his ticket, went in just before the lights went down and the movie started. Then the curtain opened, it started-and the entire thing was in spanish!!

Mary Tyler Moores real name is Mary Moore. She added the Tyler because when she first started acting, and she registered with the screen actors guild, she found that ther was another Mary Moore already registered.

Actually, they offered Wayne the part of Hawkeye, but he felt he was more in tune with the character of Trapper
