Default FBI looking again at Chandra Levy case

Not sure if this was posted before but it appears the FBI is reviewing the case and has a strong suspect they are looking at.

Yes I did see it, and I wonder if this will finally exonerate the congressman who the media pointed their finger at? Also maybe this can shed light on the other DC intern cases that had similar circumstances to levy.

yeah I read on yahoo that officials have informed the levy family that an arrest will be made soon. They have not released the name of the suspect yet, but yahoo did have some more information about another suspect in the past. and condit's name will be clear for the murder.

has there been anything on joyce? I think her name was joyce chang?

Cool

I hope the Levy family will finally be able to get some closure!

From that ABC News link:

After the Post series, D.C. and FBI cold-case squad detectives reexamined their evidence. The problem had always been a lack of conclusive physical evidence to tie Guandique to the murder.
Wow. Good for the Post. If anyone hasn't read that series (it was posted on this message board at some point, I think), it's a really good read, and outlines how Guandique became a suspect. I wonder if they were able to finally tie him to the murder through physical evidence and that's why they're issuing the warrant. I'd also like to know why it took the Post series to kick the DCPD in the butt to solve this case. I know that's often the pressure from the media/public that gets investigations moving, but it shouldn't have to be that way.

I'll have to go back to the article, but I can't remember if the Post tried to tie Guandique to the other intern disappearances or not.

Was Joyce Chang's case recently aired on UM? I know I just saw it on tv a few days ago.

She's the young, responsible DC lawyer who had also interned for a congressman. In the same park where Chandra Levy's body was found, the officials found Joyce's jacket ripped all the way up the middle back and her wallet, credit cards, keys, and (I think) a few other items were strewn about a small area, but were separate from each other.

Three months later, her body was found in the river. LE told the family that she had committed suicide!!!! I believe that was the official cause of death and they closed the case.

Unbelievable. One person interviewed sarcastically said, "Yeah, I'm gonna jump in the freezing river to drown myself, but first, I'm gonna throw my Blockbuster card out in the park because I don't want it to get wet." duh

Joyce and Chandra's deaths both have the look of a serial killer to me. Especially Joyce, since we have the violence of her torn clothing (well known sign of a rape) and her body was found washed up on the shore of the river.

So now, IIRC, this suspect has been in jail since about 2001. Have the murders stopped since his incarceration?

If there was ever a case where I differed with the investigative authorities that was the one(along with the bordello murders). There is nothing that leads me to believe that joyce committed suicide or even had a reason. I don't remember all of the details of the case so there is obviously a chance I could be wrong. But hopefully levy's case may bring some attention back to her. Is the outlook still suicide? for ms. chang?

I agree. I am the most skeptical of all when family members are challenging a "suicide" finding, but this was a case where I could not understand where on earth they ever got the idea Ms. Chang committed suicide. It made absolutely no sense.

Just for clarification, someone mentioned Joyce "also interning for a congressman," but Chandra Levy was interning for the Bureau of Prisons, not Rep. Condit.

I've heard the reason those cases were botched because after crackhead Marion Barry got put voted back into office, he decided to gut the police force that arrested him. Way to go, DC voters. Re-elect a failed, vindictive crackhead to run your city. That's DC for you.

On the tv show I saw about Joyce Chang, that was what they were still sticking to: suicide. They didn't mention re-opening the investigation or that the original cause of death was ever going to be re-investigated.

If it wasn't UM that I saw this case on last week, maybe it was Dateline when they run it on the investigation discovery channel, or something similar to that. They run old Dateline eppies, then they give an update to the cases. (As an example, one show recently ran Ann Sluti's kidnapping from 2001 and they mentioned that she was in college. During the update, they said that she had now graduated, etc.)
