yes he was. He was the only bright spot in that HORRIBLE, AWFUL movie of "THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES" a few years ago.

(Buddy Ebsen was still better, though )

Robert Reed died of Aids-related cancer in 1992.

And I didn't know about the guy who played Abner Kravitch on "BEWITCHED".

Peter Jennings from ABC died of lung cancer a couple years ago.

Nat King Cole died of lung cancer sometime in the early 60s (I don't know when)

And I think John Wayne also died of lung cancer in 1980.

Nat King Cole died, in 1965, of lung cancer.

John Wayne died, in 1979, of lung and stomach cancer.

Oh No

This is such a FREAKING uplifting thread!!!

What's with the fascination of death from cancer??? No threads about people who died from heart attacks, kidney failure, obesity, accidents?

Why not let everyone in on the fun and not just those of us who are DEALING with and trying to fight cancer right now? When you're being told all the positive things they have to fight the disease these days and then you come home from your treatments to see this wonderful list, well I'll tell ya, the urge to fight just becomes so great then!! (NOT)

I'm so sorry Cathie, you're right, this is depressing. I wasn't thinking about it that way, but now I really see your point. I hope you can forgive my ignorance.

John Wayne, and Michael Landon--among my all-time favorites.

I think she has an excellent point, If you were battling cancer and saw a thread about those who died from it, Wouldn't your spirits take serious a nose-dive? I also find it very odd that you of all people would suggest that someone "mellow out" since you seem to be easily offended by the least little thing.

Thanks Lauren and Charles. You know I'm not normally one to be super sensitive (anymore at least), and I don't piss in threads as a rule, but it really does start to get under your skin when everytime you come here you see this thread or ones similar to it, and believe me, you'd be surprised at how many there have been.

Lee, I can only pray for you and hope that you and no members of your family ever suffer from the disease and you have to look at a running log of deaths each day. You'll find you get enough of it in the media and news.

I haven't reported the thread, it's perfectly "acceptable", however, it does appear to be a morbid fascination with people. And if it were a thread about deaths from suicide, could also romantisize it enough that it could be enough to push a very depressed person over the edge. We have many depressed members here on ChitChat. So how do you think this makes a cancer patient feel when they're feeling like death warned over just from the treatments, let alone the disease itself. And then to read the number of times and all the places everyone got it before they bought the farm is really fun too!

I'm just saying, I try to come here to get my head away from it as much as I can, and if it's a helpful, educational, prayer type of thread, then fine, but when it's just chalking them up to see how many you can get, it's just sick imo. And frankly Lee, your call out to me was even sicker.

There's no rule against a thread of this nature. Sometimes though, it's common sense and a sense of decency that should come into play. Having lost my parents to cancer, and a good friend battling the monster (Cat), my heart dropped when I saw this thread. I only opened it when someone (not Cat) told me about it. It's rare to find a person who hasn't lost a loved one to cancer, or who has been through it themselves. If they haven't, they will. Cancer touches everyone's lives. I hate even typing the word, must less thinking of people who suffered and died from it.
