Default Cities that deserve NHL Teams

Okay, many cities that have Hockey Teams are feeling turned-off from their own home team. Cities such as Nashville, Atlanta, Phoenix, and even Long Island.

If I ran the NHL, here's what cities would be optional.

Kansas City-They have the arena, they are ready for Hockey, but is Hockey ready for them...again. Because last time they had a team was 32 years ago and they were named the Scouts.

Hamilton, Ontario-The only Canadian city that deserves a team would be Hamilton.

Seattle-They had a hockey team that was notorious during the flu pandemic which ended the Stanley Cup match in a tie.

Winnepeg-They had the Jets and if Phoenix was a bad place for their old team...send them back to Winnepeg!

Cleveland-Yes, Cleveland. I don't know why Columbus got the nod, because right now there's no winning status in Ohio's Capital City...but if they were the Cleveland Blue Jackets (or Barons) there might be a great boost with either relocation...or a new Ohio Rivalry!

Las Vegas-This city is hungry for a sports franchise!

Salt Lake City-This is a great city for Hockey!

Any other cities that might do for the NHL?

And they sucked.

In two years, they won 27 games, lost 110, had 23 ties, and in one stretch of 44 games, had only one win.

Ramona would mark out if hockey came to the Emerald City.

Interesting. You say Hamilton is the only Canadian city that deserves a team. Then later in your list you mention Winnipeg(which you misspelled). Guess
what? Winnipeg is also in Canada. One other Canadian city I would suggest is Quebec City. The only caveat being they would need to build a new arena. Another city I would suggest is Portland, Oregon. There are located perfectly to create a rivalry with the San Jose Sharks to the south and the Vancouver Canucks to the north. Also, unlike Seattle, Portland has a suitable building already sitting there. I refer of course to the Rose Garden, the current home of the Portland Trailblazers of the NBA. Another possibility would be Indianapolis, Indiana.

Okay, I made a few mistakes.

But Hamilton is the closest to have a team, Winnipeg is next, then Quebec City, and there should be a Saskatchewan Team too.

The reason why I also coined Cleveland was because we had the Barons....

They were the best team in the AHL for awhile.

Interesting you should mention Saskatchewan. Fifteen or twenty years ago the St. Louis Blues nearly moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. A group of Canadian investors were negotiating to purchase the franchise and were planning to move it to Saskatoon. The deal fell through and never happened. Who knows, maybe in the future Saskatoon will get a team!

They can have the Columbus Blue Jackets! (Why Ohio got a hockey team I will never understand. )

Talking

The bloated NHL doesn't need more crappy teams. That said, I'd only be interested to see the Winnipeg Jets or the Québec Nordiques make a comeback.

I would say that ANY Canadian city would make a better home for an NHL team than some of the US teams that already exist or are being talked about as potential expansion teams. A great example would be Calgary after they moved from Atlanta. So why should other teams be afraid to go north? My list would look like this:

1. Hamilton
2. Quebec City
3. Winnipeg
4. A second team in Toronto
5. Regina or Saskatoon
6. Seattle
7. Cleveland (Columbus moves to Cleveland and stays there)
8. Milwaukee (A good potential rival for Chicago and Detroit)
9. Portland, Ore.
10. Indianapolis

How about Kansas City, Las Vegas, or possibly Houston?

How about a big fat NO! to all 3!
