these kids today get so many oppertunities in school and things. My 12 year old nephew is traveling to ROME, ITALY next spring with his class, for a week!!! And last spring, he went to Mexico, also for a month!!
When I was his age, the farthest I ever traveled with my class was to New York for the day, and everyone considered that a big thing!!! ![]()

*makes you feel old*
I went to Washington DC on a high school trip for a week, back in 2002. Then I went to NYC for a college journalism convention for 5 days, back in 2006. I didn't go overseas, but I had to fly to get to both places. ![]()

Geez, the biggest trips we got in high school were to conservation areas or a ski hill north of the city.
I know - can't believe the opportunities kids have now. They have no idea how good they have it. An old boyfriend of mine just told me his niece is 18 and has been given a full scholarship to some college in Liverpool for astro physics. Now she's moving on the nuclear physics and will be travelling all over the world for it. They've come a long way from the one day field trip to the museum!

We never left the state in school unless you were in some huge competitons. That is really cool that they get to travel like that. It must be a rich school.

geez, that sounds intense for a twelve-year-old. the farthest i went on a school trip was to los angeles for three days with my high school choir to sing the national anthem at a clippers game and go to disneyland. it was mostly paid for by the choir department, but we each had to pay $250 to go. the year after i graduated they went across the country to washington DC. the fee was about $1,000 per person, lol.

The only field trip we got to go on was to Grand Rapids to see the Gerald Ford museum.
