Madderest Everything just seems to revolve around little children!!! ARGH!!!!!

First off, I think I should make it known that I, for one, cannot stand little kids! The ones under age 10 I mean! I just can't stand them, especially the really, really little ones. I know I'm only 18, but I have tons of annoying little cousins to know just how unbearable little kiddies are. And what makes me even more fed up is how the entire world just seems to revolve around the little s***s! Think about it...all the major holidays are geared towards little children, birthdays are geared to children, all these stupid FCC guidelines and regulations, you have to watch your language in public...and I am so sick and tired of all this wining of how there are no primetime shows on for little kids...okay, first, almost every cartoon and program on in the morning is for little kids, second, THERE CALLED DVD'S, PEOPLE!!!!! BUY A FRIGGIN' DVD OF "SPONGEBOB POOP-PANTS" FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!! DON'T TAKE AWAY ALL THESE GREAT ADULT-THEMED SHOWS ON TV JUST TO FULFILL THE NEEDS OF YOUR LITTLE BRATS!!!! Hate me all you want for this, but I gotta' say it...I really can't stand little kids!!

My advice is to keep it in your pants. If you have this attitude now I'd hate to know what would happen if you ever had kids of your own.

how are holidays and birthdays geared towards children? there are some traditions that are intended mostly for children, such as writing to santa, but that's not the whole idea. adults celebrate and exchange gifts amongst each other just as well. there isn't a single holiday intended for children.

of course we need to watch our language in public. do you really want children to grow up with no manners, not understanding when swearing is ok and when it isn't? also, i don't see why you're blaming this on them. children want to be grown up and watch dirty shows that aren't appropriate for them; it's the adults who are preventing it for their own good.

Does that mean you won't be having any children in the future?

I can't stand kids either, but it's because they annoy the **** out of me (trust me, I live across the street with the most rambunctious kids on the planet and 7 years ago my family wound-up having custody with four kids and it really annoyed me that my family loved the baby the most and I wanted to do what Bender did to Nibbler).

First-The Holidays are geared toward the grown-up as well. Halloween has trick-or-treaters for the kids and there's costume parties for the grown-ups. Easter has egg-hunts for the kids and a Pompus Church Service for the adults. Independence Day has entertainment for both kids and adults. And Christmas has Santa and opening Presents for the kids and there's parties and dinners that are adult-oriented as well. And for Birthdays...many adults would rather not celebrate their Birthday because it means that death is at their door.
Second-I agree with your regulations. We may have spared the rod and spoiled the child TOO much. But my parents smoked around me, I live in a century home, and I'm perfectly fine...I may have autism, but I can function like a normal human being!
Third-Ever since Cable and Satellite came into play, Basic Programming basically became extinct. This happened in the year 1997 when everything was regulated. Many Children have to go to bed at 8 and if you have Cable or Satellite, keep it on The Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, or Cartoon Network. But I also wish that these stations can bring back nostalgia so that you can show your kids the shows you grew-up with.

That last thing I said was the saddest thing that these children of tomorrow will never know...when TV was watchable.

No way, man!! I'm still a virgin and intend to wear a rubber when I finally do the deed. No kiddies for me. BTW, you guys are taking this way too personally. So what, I can't stand little children, what's the big deal? I am venting here. Doesn't mean I'm going to go out and purchase a rifle and blow away every child I see. All I am merely saying is that the entire world seems to circle around little kids. And you can't deny that they are rather unpleasant and obnoxious most of the time.

It's not that serious. They are just kids and do not warrant such contempt because of petty things like television and language.

I'm really into the New Age beliefs and one of these is that people create their own realities with their thoughts, beliefs and emotions. It's possible that you might start to like young children more if you change your beliefs about them. You seem to believe strongly that most young children are annoying brats, and that belief is undoubtedly creating just that kind of image in your reality. If you changed your belief and started thinking, "Children aren't so bad", then you might start to like them more.

Anyway, I think kids are okay. I've been babysitting my neighbours' son since he was three (he's nine now) and I've always got on well with him. He's a nice kid.

I'm also one of those who agrees with watching their language in front of children under, say, 11 or 12 (by that age they'll have probably begun to hear those words at school themselves.) I don't swear myself anyway, but I don't mind it if people do. But I do agree with trying not to swear in front of young children.

Holidays geared towards kids?? Jeez!

I was born in 1984, but I kept trick-or-treating all the way until I was 20 years old. Even now, I still go to costume parties.

Some things are for kids, but others aren't. Kids can have Easter Egg hunts, but that doesn't mean older people can enjoy candy on Easter Sunday.

Most of these holidays- Thanksgiving, Christmas- are geared towards EVERYONE. The only thing about Christmas that's different are the gift types- younger kids want toys, and older kids want different things.

The ones 10 and under are the better ones. If you had a clue, you'd figure that out. First graders are just too damn cute sometimes.

Anyhow...I just have to say that I'm glad you're not in charge of the world. Imagine, an all "adult" themed world. Everyone would be dead and everything left behind would be sleezy. Sure, kids can be annoying...but you know what? A lot of times, it's the adults in their lives that made them that way. So blame the adults, the ones you so seem to love.

Well put, Cathy!! I never was wild about kids until I began volunteering at my church's Sunday School and got to know some of them. Not too long after, my sister made me an aunt. My nephew is now 2 1/2 and he's the love of my life. I'm looking forward to becoming an aunt again this summer. I still don't think I want kids of my own but at least they don't completely freak me out anymore.
