Barry Tompkins and John Beasley were the commentators for USA Network's TV broadcast of the famous 1982 Cal-Stanford "Big Game" (featuring "The Play" at the end). I didn't know that USA covered college football. I'm aware that during the 1980s, they covered Major League Baseball, the National Hockey League, the National Basketball Association, as well as U.S. Open tennis, the Masters, "Tuesday Night Fights", and World League of American Football. How long did USA cover college football, and what kind of conferences did they typically cover?
