I never knew it was airing on Fridays. I'm shocked to see ER gone Too bad they didn't put another show on instead of more Boston Legal/NCIS. I would have loved to see a sitcom back in primetime.

Unfortunately ER was not delivering the goods to ION. Boston and NCIS are working, but still not at the levels the network had over a year ago.

i wish they would go back start airing classic like getsmart, or welcome back, kottoer. i think family ties and the incdabile hulk would be good choices. i don't like Boston Legal or mash. it come on 4 different channel. i wish they would put amen back on. i miss that show. they should also show my three sons. i wouldn't mind them showing court ship of eddies father.

As much as we would like, ION is not showing any indications of showing more classic/retro shows.

Ion is finished when the $100 million from Citidel runs out. They can't even get their ratings back to what Mama's Family was pulling in. It's just a matter of time before they are forced into bankrupcy. I can't imagine the network still existing 2 years from now.
Here's a recent article about how Ion intends to air "original unscripted and scripted" programming by next summer. Ya, ok...that'll bring in millions of viewers. http://www.tvweek.com/news/2008/09/i...original_1.php Last edited by VisualSensation : 11-14-2008 at 10:06 PM. |

They think original programming will help them out? I believe that would just put them more in the hole than they already are. They need to wake up an realize something - they abandoned their original image, which was classic television, and which was doing very well for them, for a more contemporary look, and now they're on the verge of bankrupcy. |

My bet: ION will be gone by the end of 2009. If I am wrong, I will bring this back and admit it...but the ratings are in the toilet, no matter if they go up 20,000 viewers or not, they STILL aren't what the network has to have to survive. The numbers weren't great with Mama and they were barely making it. Now they went on a shopping spree with Baywatch, 48 Hours, NCIS, Boston Legal, M*A*S*H, that drama that aired earlier in the fall (what was it, that crime thing?)....and they still aren't getting anywhere. They HAVE to have at least 900,000 viewers with these shows to get somewhere...and it isn't happening and I see no signs of it happening. Criminal Minds and Ghost Whisperer will probably bomb.
Look for the affiliates to go to RTN, Daystar, TBN, Telemundo.. |

I'd say they should be getting at least a million viewers weekly. They just can't compete with these other networks with 500,000 viewers.

Esp when MyNetworkTV is showing you can improve your strategy and gain a bigger audience--sure it is no threat to the Big 5, but it is making ION look pathethic in comparison. Getting Smackdown was a good beginning and looks like Tony Rock is another getting MNT positive attention.

I thought they were going to show The Color of Magic at 7PM on November 23. Any idea why they changed the schedule to rerun an older movie?
