WASHINGTON — Federal agents have broken up a plot to assassinate Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and shoot or decapitate 102 black people in a Tennessee murder spree, ATF officials said today.

In court records unsealed today, federal agents said they disrupted plans to rob a gun store and target a predominantly African-American high school by two neo-Nazi skinheads. Agents said the skinheads did not identify the school by name.

Jim Cavanaugh, special agent in charge of the Nashville field office for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, said the two men planned to shoot 88 black people and decapitate another 14. The numbers 88 and 14 are symbolic in the white supremacist community.

Thank God they caught the scumbags. I hope Barack stays safe, there are some crazy people out there and it's a shame that today he still has to worry about such things happening to him. But wow, they planned on hurting all of those other people, too? What the hell is wrong with people?

As much as I love the guy, this is what scares me so badly about Barack winning. All I keep reading about is how he's a Musslim (Gee, I didn't know they were born in Hawaii, did you?

), and I keep thinking about MLK, even though he wasn't a President when he died. Obama's speaking manner reminds me of MLK and that's a huge compliment to him. I've read over and over about how people think Obama will be assassinated if he's elected and that seriously scares me.
I'm not saying I want him to lose. On the contrary!!!! In fact, I'm going to start campaigning for him TOMORROW!

I cannot wait!

If he is elected, I know that the security would be just as tight if not more so as it is for other Presidents.

The news about the attempted assassination is SICKENING absolutely SICKENING. And scary. Thank God they nipped this in the bud. And this is one reason incendiary rhetoric (by anyone) is so dangerous. It really does bring out the crazies. And I'm scared too! What is this country and the world coming too.....

The amount of false smearing of Obam by people who imo are really nothing more than not-so-closet racists is just disgusting. I think we all have that worry which is why some of the rhetoric used is so horrible, like Schmoopie said.

ugh. i don't agree with obama's policies but that is just disturbing. it's 2008, not post-civil war south. glad they caught them before anyone was harmed/killed.

The question is, are the Democrats going to sue the ATF for violating the plotters' privacy rights? I thought the left didn't like domestic surveillance.

Would this plot have been discovered if Obama was in the White House right now? Because as we all know the Democrats NEVER spy on ANYONE...uh, except Joe the Plumber, that is.

Three cheers for the Bush Administration's Justice Department for uncovering this plot!!
