Default What Do People Find Entertaining About Trashy Reality Shows?

I am not a fan of them but I know some people who like them. Shows like Tila Tequila, I Love Money, Flavor Flav...

They know it's not real, they know it is pointlessless and dumb; but yet they still watch it. What do people find entertaining about trash shows like this despite knowing how dumb they are?

I never understood the concept of knowing something is garbage yet you tune in to watch it every night.

It's all about the drama. You know if you put two male dogs in a pin they will fight. Same thing with people. Put different people together in a house stuff will happen. Not to mention the T&A on those shoes.

The only kind of reality shows I will watch are shows like "Dancing With The Stars" (and that's only because I like to watch the dance segments. I fast-foreword through all the other crap; even the results!). I also like HGTV. I don't know if their shows can be considered reality. Most of their shows deal with someone looking for a house and the camera will follow their story (like Househunters. I love that show), and also shows about remodeling and redecorating. I hate the shows like "Top Chef" and competition shows.

Other reality shows I can't stand are the pointless pointless ones, like James mentioned. The ones that just follow people around with a video camera and capture their every lame emotion.

Yeah... It is fake. There is just something like about these shows like "Girls Next Door" "Rock of Love" "I love NY", and "Supernanny" all those shows are very entertaining to me. I know im not the only one who likes them.

I hate those reality type shows too. The only ones I can bare to watch are ones like Kathy Griffin's show or Margaret Cho's. Ones that basically just follow them around with a camera on their day to day business. Not ones where they're thrust into unreleastic situations, etc...

I most hate the dating type shows where people are willing to stab each other in the back to date Flavor Flav or Bret Michaels.... when anyone with sense knows there'll be another season of their show in six months and the winner will be long disposed of.

I also hate stuff like The Hills and Laguna Beach. Why do we care about these people? Plus, The Hills was recently "outted" as a scripted show, but I think anyone with common sense knew that from day one. The lighting and camera-angles are just way too perfect for these people to be a bunch of non-actors living their lives.

Lol

For those of you who are sick of all that reality TV drama, you should check out MTV's new reality spoof: "The Hills: According to Me".

MTV finally has a new show that’s not all about the drama, catfights, and bromance moments – it’s about making fun of them! The show has one comedian playing (and mocking) every cast member from the "The Hills", finally giving you something you’d care to watch. The show doesn’t air until the 18th but here is a sneak peak if you want to check it out. YouTube - The Hills According to Me -- Sneak Peak. I'd love to hear what you think!

-Kate, MTV
