Its election season and TV Land is offering viewers the chance to voice off on a homefront issue of grave importance: Who should be the first family of TV Land-- The Taylors (Andy, Aunt Bea and Opie), the Sanfords (Fred, Lamont and Aunt Esther) or the Clampetts (Jed, Granny, Elie-Mae and Jethro)?
For two weeks, beginning Saturday, October 18 and leading up to election weekend, viewers will have the opportunity to go to tvland.com to vote on their favorite TV Land clan after viewing clips featuring the contending families at their best...and their worst.
So whether they are having each other’s backs or sticking a knife in it, our contenders always come together in the end to cut through the red tape and bring the laughter.
On Sunday, November 2, after the viewers have voted on their favorites, the winning family will be featured in an 8 hour block from 8p-4a.

If so, TV Land is inviting viewers to take a break and enjoy some entertainment by taking part in another kind of election! Beginning immediately, the network invites viewers to log onto TVLand.com to vote for their favorite television family to crown them the "First Family." Viewers can vote for the Taylors (Andy, Aunt Bea and Opie of "The Andy Griffith Show"), the Sanfords (Fred, Lamont and Aunt Esther of "Sanford and Son"), or the Clampetts (Jed, Granny, Elie-Mae, and Jethro of "The Beverly Hillbillies") to see who wins the title. Clips of each of the sitcoms will be streaming online for viewers to relive each contender's bestand worst moments.

"We're excited to offer our viewers a brief escape from the nation's upcoming crucial election," states Larry W. Jones, president of TV Land. "If there is one thing we can all come together on, it's great, comedic American television."

All the viewer votes will be tallied and TV Land will air the winning "First Family" during an 8-hour marathon starting Sunday, November 2, 2008 from 8PM to Monday, November 3, 2008, 4AM (ET/PT).
