I liked Danny Thomas, Angela Cartwright, and Rusty Hamer, and the lady that played their Mom.

Isn't that pretty much everyone <g>?
I never really caught onto this until recently, but Kathy was Rusty's stepmother, not his real mother. He actual calls her Kathy in the earlier episodes, but later on calls her Mom. The first four years of "Make Room for Daddy" have never been rerun, but Danny's first wife is in those episodes. The actress who played her left the series, and the character was killed off. Danny married Kathy about a year later, and Kathy and her daughter from a previous marriage moved in. Rusty also has an older sister (Terry) who was in the show until about a year or so after Kathy married Danny, and then left. I'd love to see those early shows. |

Angela Cartwright is my favorite. I would also love to see the early shows with the older daughter, Teri (Sherry Jackson, I think).

I liked Hans Conried as Uncle Tonoose.
When I was seeing the program in it's final years in 1963 and 64 I had a minor crush on lovely Angela-whose career certainly went beyond the Danny Thomas show. |

I thought the first mom (Named Margaret and Played By Jean Hagen) was very good.
Many of the first four season episodes are available in the 7 VHS Video Box Set Released by Marathon Music & Video. |

Kathy. Always thought Marjorie Lord was very pretty on this show as well as in her movies.

I loved Kathy too, and thought she was gorgeous. But I'd have to say that Rusty Hamer was my favorite humorous character on this show. In fact, I'd say he was the funniest kid ever on TV. His wisecracking and sarcasm were delivered perfectly and he and Danny Thomas had a great comic chemistry. The writers should get a lot of credit for his lines too - a very well written character, exceptional for a kid.

I watched Make Room for Daddy as a kid when it was on Nick at Nite. Back then Rusty was my favorite. I loved the schemes he would come up with. Now, I love Danny for his jokes and tenderness towards his wife and children. I also love the episodes with Terrie as a teenager. She's so "Well!"
