Default What is it exactly that you like about SO?

Although I haven't been posting here too much over the last year or so, I've always felt fond of this place since joining. I was thinking over today about why I felt that way about this site and came up with several things/reasons:

1: The website is very well-run and laid-out, very neat and uncluttered.

2: I think the website tends to remind of the period when I first joined (December 2004) which was quite a good time for me, so it makes me nostalgic in a happy kind of way.

3: There's a strong sense of community here which is nice to witness.

4: SO has a really cosy, comfortable feeling for me. Like it would go well with a bath, a good book, hot chocolate and...Murder, She Wrote! Cosy and comfortable are the words I would use to describe MSW, despite the fact that people are murdered in every episode.

Gives me something to do when I'm bored out of my mind

Kind of a comfort zone, considering I've been here since I was 13

Met a lot of friends here

i suppose just staying in touch with people i've talked to through the years...if everyone were to leave and a whole new set of members came in, i wouldn't see any point in staying. plus it's a friendly place, not many trolls come around here anymore.

The variety of topics, the cool pix, the opinions expressed (both those that I
agree with and the ones I disagree with) ... but most of all the camaraderie
among the members. It's an oasis where you can go to talk about virtually
anything that's on your mind. A friendly place. A "comfort zone."

The fantastic selection of wine.

And I get to act like a wiseass and occasionally talk about TV.

I like the fact that it's not only threads about TV shows but you can talk about sports, celebrities, music, news and you can play games as well. Plus most of the members seem like really good people.

Most of all, it's where I met a lot of great people over the years. Even ones I don't really talk to much, it's good to see them around and posting. SO is kind of like my home on the internet, no matter how much or how little I might post. Originally I came here JUST to discuss classic TV shows and stuff like that, but over the years you run out of things to say. It's the people that keep me coming back.

Plus, I've been posting here for 6 years...So it's pretty much just home, period. It's a part of my daily routine, even subconsciously.

That there are some very nice people here, and you can find other fans of those shows you're particularly fond of.

the people i'd say. no trolls and people seem to respect others opinions even if they're different from their own. i like comin here because i love my certain fav, tv shows but have no one in "real life" to share those interests with. they either think your weird or have no life if you want to discuss tv shows in depth and know every factoid or trivia bit about them. its fun to disect the inner workings of a show with the other posters here. but chit chat is my fav. part of s.o. cause we all get to shoot the breeze and its really where we come togetehr as a "family" wishing each other happy birthdays, cheering each other on and supporting each other.

I like the fact that I've met a lot of nice people here, and even though I don't know what 99% of them look like I still enjoy reading everyones thoughts, opinions, etc. about TV shows, movies, etc. plus I can post my thoughts and I pick up things about TV shows and movies that I never knew.

Basicly, I just like "talking" to people and reading what they have to say. Since I can't get around much.

Also, I met my good friend Lauren (LuLu Rogers) on here!!!
Now if only she'd answer my P.M.s
