Exclamation My cell phone contract is expiring soon, and I need a new phone...

(Note: Verizon and Alltel are the only two companies here. Alltel is about to merge with Verizon, so before too long Verizon will be the only option here. Therefore I really have no other choice. No complaints with Verizon here, though.)

My two-year contract with Verizon is expiring on my birthday in 3 1/2 weeks, and I am looking to get a new phone when I renew.

Currently, I have the LG enV in silver, and I hate it. Thing is, I can't complain too much about hating it because I got it free from a friend. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the full keyboard on it. Plus the camera. But god, it sucks so much.

The two important things I'm looking for in a new phone is a full QWERTY keyboard, and the ability for it to hold more than 100 texts at a time (50 inbox/50 outbox). That said...

I'm looking at the LG enV², which just came out a few months ago and I guess they phased out the original enV models for that. Other phones with a keyboard through Verizon that I know of (besides smartphones/Blackberry) are the Samsung Alias, the LG Voyager and the Samsung Glyde.

Anyone have any one of the phones listed? How is it? How many texts can be stored in it?

As ridiculous as this sounds, I miss my Motorola Razr. At the time I retired my Razr for my current phone, I had nearly 1000 texts each in the inbox & outbox. That thing really held a lot of texts!

I was looking at the phones via verizonwireless.com. If there are any other non-smartphones with QWERTY keyboards through Verizon that I missed, lemme know!

Right now, I'm leaning towards the LG enV² and the LG Voyager.

i LOVE the voyager phone. i wish my plan expired this summer instead of next, because i would love to get it. one of my friend's mom actually has that phone & she loves it. it looks really nice & it doesn't weigh too much.

i've got the samsung schu740 phone in black. it's got a full keyboard & it flips both ways. i think they only carry it in silver now, but it's really nice. it's a thin phone that isn't heavy, and it's got the keyboard. and it flips both ways, which was really exciting! the sucky part is that it only holds 50 texts in the inbox & outbox.

my best friend's got the motorola moto q9 and that's the nicest one of all three phones. she's had it since december, and she hasn't erased any of her text messages. and she texts 24/7. so i'm sure she's got over 4,000 in her inbox. i know you said you didn't want a smartphone, but is that because of the price? i saw commercials a couple of weeks ago & the phone was only 80 bucks with plan renewal. but that may vary by state.

good luck! hope you get a nice phone that you like!

My roomie has the Alias in black, as well. And yes, I'm fascinated by the fact it flips both ways! So cool!

Yes, I'm not looking at smartphones due to price and also due to the fact I'm on my dad's plan. I'm sure he'd say "NO!" if I wanted to get one. Besides, I'm not quite ready for such a fancy phone just yet.

I use Virgin Mobile. No contracts and they have a new all unlimited plan for $79.99.

Um, pretty sure Virgin Mobile isn't here. Plus I'm already on my dad's plan which is much cheaper than VM's unlimited plan.

I don't need to change providers... I just need a NEW PHONE. One that is through Verizon.

everyone is always fascinated by that whenever i show them my phone!

ah...i see. well, in that case...i'd either go with the samsung or the navigator. the only down side to the samsung is that it doesn't hold that many texts, like you wanted. the touch screen of the navigator's really nice, as is the keyboard. how much would the navigator be with a renewal of the contract? have you gone into the verizon store to see the phones in person, just to get a feel of them?

Haha, awesome!

Well, my mom has the enV², and I haven't found anyone who has a Voyager yet. I thiiiiiiiiiiiiink I may get the Voyager if it's available - woo for no exposed numberpad on the front!

I think I may go to the Verizon store tomorrow to see if they actually carry the phones I'm looking at. I know they definitely have the enV². I'm gonna have to ask them about how much they'd cost when I renew.

Set aside at least $220 for it... I only got one other accessory for it (a hard plastic cover) and I think all together it came to $206. Oh yeah, you're going to want a memory card for it too, if you don't already have one. The pink one costs the same as the silver one.

Damn nevermind.
It's pretty, but I don't have that kind of money.

Nice. I bought the same exact phone 3 days ago. It's sweet.
