Default Def Leppard VS. Poison

A new feud has erupted between Def Leppard frontman Joe Elliott and Poison bandmates Bret Michaels and Rikki Rockett over remarks made about the trio's rock credentials.

Elliott sparked the war of words last month at a Swedish rock festival when he questioned the quality of Poison's work. The Brit told the media that bands like Poison and Motley Crue have "no substance in their music", and relied more on their image than their sound.

Rockett has now fired back, with a subtle dig at Elliott in an Internet posting when he wrote: "I'd be hurt if this were coming from John Lennon."

And Michaels responds, "We have not sold out... for 20 years every arena because we care about just our appearance. The music comes first. (They) shouldn't be knocking anyone about their music since they just did a show called Dancing With The Stars in the U.S. and they got crucified because they f#*king lip-synched the entire show. Before they bust anyone's balls, I've never lip-synched a f*%king thing in my life - ever!"

In a new posting on Def Leppard's official website, Elliott responds, "Whoah boys, slow down!!! Well, Bret has a point; we DID lip-synch on 'Dancing With The Stars'... absolutely... a show they'd love to be on, no doubt! I had a severe respiratory infection, as highlighted by my croaking through the (absolutely 100% live!) Ellen show performance the day before!"

Cool

POISON!!!!!!

Boy, if I could get as many women as Bret Michaels has, I would be a happy guy.

Even though I know this is about a feud over vocals and the "glam" image.

Def Leppard is a far better band than Poison. I've always regarded Poison as being one of the worst rock bands ever. And it isn't because they focus more on their image than music, it is just that their music is so bad. Motely Crue is a different story. Even though Tommy Lee and Nikki Sixx are both idiots, I do think that at one time they made some pretty good music.

Yeah, I think Def Leppard was a far better band musically, but nothing has quite grabbed me as much since Hysteria. I suppose that's because of Rick Allen losing his arm and the band having to modify their sound. Def Leppard have always had some good songs, and Poison is good for ear candy. They may have been a little more fashion conscious than most, of course, and they did seem to take themselves a little too seriously. Subtlety was not one of their stronger suits, however. It's a problem that Bret Michaels has a reality show, because nothing screams "nostalgia act has-been" more.

There's only one way for these two bands to settle this...

Thunderdome.

I was just thinking about Michaels's reality show. He has the nerve to criticize Def Leppard when he has his own reality show on VH1. Def Leppard's latest album, Songs From the Sparkle Lounge, is their best album since Adrenalize. It's not as good as Pyromania or Hysteria, but it's better then their last couple of releases.

I actually like both bands, but I know a whole lot more DL songs than I know Poison songs.
