Default No Emmy nomination for Rebecca Romijn

When you look over the TV academy's official list of Emmy contenders and don't see Rebecca Romijn in the supporting comedy race, the first thing you might think is: Aha! It's a diva move by someone splitting from the Ultimate TV Series About Fashion Divas: "Ugly Betty." But, no. Rebecca Romijn's not listed because her reps — uh, oh! — forgot to enter her name.

"It was an oversight," her spokesman confirms.

Such oops moves are actually quite common. To be nominated for an Emmy, a contender must fill out a form and, in cases where the star isn't a member of the TV academy, pay a fee. The most famous oversight occurred back in the 1990s when "Home Improvement" star Tim Allen forgot to enter his name for best comedy actor. The next year he had his paperwork hand-delivered by the University of Southern California marching band.

When "Ugly Betty" recently announced that it was moving production from Los Angeles to New York City, lots of supporting characters got cut. Romijn's role as a flouncy transgendered media exec was demoted from series regular to recurring (or guest) star. Currently, she's skedded to do a minimum of four episodes during 2008-09 TV season, but TV Guide called the change her "sorta-ouster."

Romijn admitted to the New York Post: "I'll be leaving, back in a recurring capacity, but time for me to leave and find something else."

Thus, some observers might be tempted to suspect that Romijn is so furious about her "sorta-ouster" that she didn't want to draw attention to her previous regular gig by submitting it for Emmy consideration. However, it turns out to be one of those all-too-common Emmy oversights. Really! Quit smirking!

Well, if it's not an anti-"Ugly Betty," then maybe it's an anti-Emmy thing shared by her whole clan. Romijn's hubby, Jerry O'Connell, was expected to be on the Emmy list as a contender for best guest actor in a comedy series for his turn on "Samantha Who?" but he's not there!
