Default Men in Trees' Anne Heche Handed Big Bill in Divorce Settlement

Anne Heche's five-year marriage to Coleman Laffoon officially concluded when a judge ruled that the actress must pay her ex the lump sum of $275,000 plus monthly child-support payments of $3,700. (The couple has a 6-year-old son named Homer.)

Heche also is being tagged for 75 percent of Homer's private-school tuition, though the exes agreed to split the cost of any of the lad's "agreed-upon extracurricular activities." But lemme tell ya, soccer camp don't come cheap! My advice: Keep him inside this summer with videogames.

Heche split from Laffoon in January 2007, and shortly thereafter she went public with her romance with Men in Trees scene partner James Tupper. — Matt Mitovich

Well, she cheated on her man and now she must pay. Life's a...you know.

And why on earth name your child HOMER? You know he will be teased and be referred to as HOMER SIMPSON.

Divorce To Be Costly For Anne Heche Actress Ordered To Pay Ex-Husband $275K, Monthly Child Support

Posted: 7:42 am CDT June 9, 2008
Updated: 11:10 am CDT June 9, 2008

Actress Anne Heche's five-year marriage to Coleman Laffoon is finished -- but it's going to cost her.

A judge has ruled that Heche has to pay $275,000 to Laffoon. That's along with monthly child-support payments of $3,700 for the care of their 6-year-old son, Homer. Heche also has to pay 75 percent of Homer's private-school tuition. The couple agreed to split the cost of any "agreed upon extracurricular activities" for their son.

The court last month suspended Heche's support payment of more than $14,000 to Lafoon for July when the actress revealed in court documents that her finances were shaky.

According to documents obtained by E!, Heche reported that she had about $35,000 in her accounts, but was $364,000 in debt. Still in the midst of divorce litigation, the actress' financial obligations include rent in Los Angeles and Canada, private school tuition for her son and auto expenses, the documents said.

In the court filing, Heche said, "Since Jan. 18, 2008, I have been unemployed and had no income from unemployment except for one very short term contract for a movie role for which I received a total of $65,000, approximately the amount I received for one episode of Men in Trees (which has not been renewed for a third season)."

Heche, 39, and Laffoon, 34, were married in September of 2001. He filed for divorce last February.

Lafoon is a cameraman and they met while working on a documentary about Ellen DeGeneres, who was Heche's partner for three years.
