Default The apartment building featured in the opening credits of Diff'rent Strokes

I remember seeing an apartment building in the opening credits of the first season of Diff'rent Strokes. That is where the Drummonds and the two Jackson brothers lived. I don't know the name of the building, though.

The building that was filmed in the 1st season opening credits is located at the corner of Park Ave. and 79th St. in Manhattan. The reason it was only featured during the first season was because they never got permission from the building, let alone pay them. And there are no penthouses in the building, as it says on the show. I'm not sure if they still offer it, but at one time On Location Tours included the site on their tour. http://www.screentours.com/tour.php/manhattan/

Maybe one of our New York City fans can get some shots of the front of the building.

Here is a photo that somebody sent me from around 2000.

I looked at Emporis and the building's name is Park 900 Condominiums. It has 28 floors and was built in 1969. It was never mentioned in the series which floor they lived in and I don't think the building has any penthouses. Penthouses are usually located on the top floors of a residential building, right?

(This thread makes me feel like I'm at the SkyscraperCity forums)

If I can get my camcorder to work, I will drive by and take shots unless someone else does(Brian Damage, TJL, etc).
