I'm so sick of NAN having all these marathons if all they're going to include in them is Home Improvement, George Lopez, and Fresh Prince. Every year they've given Roseanne a mother's day marathon . . . it just won't seem the same without one this year. I just don't get why they can't have a full night marathon with all their shows instead of just those 3.

Another HI week marathon? I feel bad for HI . . . they're already running the show to death. If it isn't doing so hot in the ratings, why continue to have these wall-to-wall weeks. Knowing NAN, I can't wait to see what summer will be like. Probably the return of Fresh Prince marathons. I can just see it now "Enjoy your summer while watching nothing but Fresh Prince and George Lopez all night long!!!!"

Roseanne will air 2am-6am that night. And Home Improvement is improving each month.

I do love the fact that Roseanne is back fullforce on NAN in latenights, but I can almost be 100% sure that those episodes won't be mothers day episodes. They should have a full night thing, with episodes of HI, GL, and GP, but also with Roseanne, Cosby, and Full House.

I think by airing another wall-to-wall marathon of HI, people will get too sick of it too fast, and it's way too soon for that to be happening.

All right! Another Home Improvement marathon! I'll be sure to watch. I don't think people will get sick of it from that, it could spark more interest in the show.

Why does E.T. even need to be on Nick@Nite? I love the movie, but I don't think it belongs on Nick@Nite. I miss the old Nick@Nite.

It's Back and Gutsier Than Ever!

Nick At Nite Greenlights My Family's Got Guts, a New Extreme Sports Competition Series Set for Prime Time, Fall 2008

Production on 20 Half-Hour Episodes and Two Hour-Long Specials Kicks off in Orlando, Fla., in August

It's Back and Gutsier Than Ever!

NEW YORK, May 6 -- GUTS, the groundbreaking, original hit game show from the '90s, is being recreated for a new generation of families as Nick at Nite greenlights My Family's Got Guts, a new extreme sports competition series. Nick at Nite will commence production on two 10-episode tournaments, (20 new half-hour episodes and two hour-long specials), created and executive produced by the digital entertainment studio Worldwide Biggies. The series will be shot on location at Universal Studios in Orlando, Fla., beginning in August and is scheduled to premiere in prime time on Nick at Nite in fall 2008 with the finale on the Worldwide Day of Play.

"A new generation of kids and their families can now enjoy My Family's Got Guts, the new incarnation of the original hit Nickelodeon game show that is back and better than ever," said Marjorie Cohn, Executive Vice President Original Programming & Development, Nickelodeon Networks. "My Family's Got Guts celebrates sports and fun, healthy competition and lifestyle, while building on Nickelodeon's history of creating top-notch game shows for kids and their families. The series that asks, 'Do You Have It?' will challenge families to get active and use teamwork to prove they have what it takes to win."

My Family's Got Guts is an extreme sports competition series that brings families together where every member of the team -- from the smallest to the strongest -- plays a vital role and works together to complete each challenge. Each episode will feature a host (TBA), and three teams of four players (two adults and two kids) who gather in the Extreme Arena to compete against each other in four rounds of events inspired by today's extreme sports. The point values increase each round giving all teams a chance to come from behind. The family with the lowest score is eliminated after round three. In the final round, two players from the highest scoring teams face each other on The Crag, a new updated 3D, super challenging version of the original GUTS' Aggro Crag fantasy mountain. The team with the most points at the end of all four rounds wins the competition.

Albie Hecht, founder and CEO of Worldwide Biggies and part of the team that developed the GUTS franchise and Executive Producer of My Family's Got Guts added, "Biggies is excited about the opportunity to expand our relationship with Nick at Nite to invent family gaming for the 21st century. GUTS will bring out the kid in all of us as we challenge families to live out their greatest sports fantasy."

The original GUTS was hosted by Mike O'Malley (Yes, Dear, Get the Picture) and aired on Nickelodeon from September 28, 1992, until October 1995. The half-hour action-sports game show allowed kid contestants to live out some of their greatest sports fantasies in a competitive arena. There were several different types of sporting events featured including basketball, baseball, football and soccer, while other events made use of a wave pool, a racing track and fantasy ski slope.

Popular sports figures and celebrity guests made appearances on the series including Picabo Street, Evander Holyfield, and Backstreet Boy A.J. Mclean. In its third season, the show evolved from GUTS into Global GUTS where kids from around the world competed in sporting events. The format remained the same with four athletic events and the Super Aggro Crag and the contestants included kids from the United Kingdom, Mexico, Israel, Germany, Spain, Portugal, the Commonwealth of Independent States and the United States.

The original GUTS introduced the famous Aggro Crag (later renamed to the Mega Crag, and finally the Super Aggro Crag) which ultimately decided the winner. On the fantasy mountain all three contestants raced to climb up activating a series of lighted targets commonly referred to as "actuators" on their way to the peak. If a contestant missed an actuator along the way, that player could not complete the climb until he or she returned and activated the target they missed. The climb was made more difficult with special effects that simulated lightning storms, rock avalanches, flying "snow" in the form of glitter and confetti, "nuclear flying crystals" and steep walls.

The Family Dog Gets His Day on Nick at Nite With the First Annual Worldwide Fido Awards Premiering on Sunday & Monday July 27 & 28 at 9:00 p.m. (ET/PT)

Viewers May Upload their Videos at www.worldwidefido.com and Vote to Determine 2008's Worldwide Fido Winner

LOS ANGELES, May 6 -- For the first time ever, Nick at Nite will give dog owners everywhere the chance to showcase the unique charms of their canine companions by entering them online as contestants for The First Annual Worldwide Fido Awards premiering on Sunday, July 27, and Monday, July 28, 9-10 p.m. (ET/PT). The competition kicks off on May 19, when viewers can upload videos of their dogs to the popular online dog video community site www.WorldwideFido.com, created by digital entertainment studio Worldwide Biggies, to compete in six categories and vote online for their top picks. The contest culminates in a two-night television event that will reveal the winners in each category and ultimately the 2008 Worldwide Fido Award for best in show. The pooch fest will also feature canine friendly celebrities and their four-legged best friends.

The inaugural multi-platform Worldwide Fido Awards will launch with online voting from May 19 to July 12 to determine the finalists in six categories: "Cutest Dog," "Best Dressed," "Best Voice," "Most Outrageous," "Best Trick" and "Dog/Owner Look-Alike." Canine candidates in each will be narrowed down to one finalist who will debut as the category winner on night one of the awards. This first hour will showcase the personality of the finalists, who will then compete the following evening in a one-hour live results show in which one lucky pooch will be crowned the 2008's Worldwide Fido winner. The live broadcast will also feature honorable mentions and a special "hero dog" award.

"This truly is the first award show of its kind," said Marjorie Cohn, Executive Vice President, Original Programming and Development, Nickelodeon. "People are just crazy in love with their dogs, and pet videos are the second most watched videos on the Internet. A special programming event which showcases this user-generated content to celebrate the family dog is a perfect fit for Nick at Nite."

Albie Hecht, CEO of Worldwide Biggies and executive producer of The Worldwide Fido Awards, added, "The Worldwide Fido Awards are for all dogs, from the family dog and mutts, to crossbreeds and half-breeds. It is truly a tail-wagging, dog-friendly extravaganza, and we could not be happier than to partner with Nick at Nite for this family event. This special enables us to build upon the success we've had on the web and extend the brand to television."

DO THE URKEL DANCE AGAIN!

NICK AT NITE PICKS UP LAUGH-PACKED SERIES FAMILY MATTERS
AND KICKS IT OFF WITH A SEVEN-HOUR MARATHON ON
SUNDAY, JUNE 29 AT 9:00 PM (ET/PT)

Santa Monica, Calif. – May 6, 2008 – Nick at Nite will add Family Matters, a laugh-out-loud hit series for the whole family, to its sitcom line-up this summer, launching the show with a seven–hour marathon on Sunday, June 29 at 9:00 p.m., before it lands in its regular time period, Sunday through Thursday at 8:30 p.m. & 11:00 p.m.; and Friday & Saturday at 12 a.m. (all times ET/PT). Family Matters, which ran for nine seasons (1989-98) on broadcast networks ABC and CBS, catapulted Jaleel White’s archetypal nerd-next-door, Steve Urkel, into the pop culture, and the actor captured three Image Awards for his portrayal. Having aired for 215 episodes, Family Matters is the second-longest running U.S. comedy with a predominantly African-American cast, surpassed only by The Jeffersons.

“Family Matters is a really funny, terrific show filled with life lessons about the value of friends and family,” said Pete Danielsen, Executive Vice President, Programming, Nickelodeon & MTVN Kids and Family Group. ”It’s the kind of show that connects with people of all ages and has special appeal for families, which makes it a perfect addition to the Nick at Nite schedule.”

In this long-running comedy – a spinoff of Perfect Strangers via wisecracking elevator operator Harriette Winslow – nosy, good-hearted Steve Urkel pesters and wreaks havoc on his neighbors, the Winslows of suburban Chicago. Ultra-smart and socially clueless, the bespectacled, irksome nerd always arrives full of good intentions and inventions that backfire. Dressed in high-rise pants held up by suspenders, he clumsily barges into the Winslows’ home – and into their hearts. His shenanigans particularly annoy Harriette’s (Jo Marie Payton) husband Carl (Reginald VelJohnson). The gruff cop is a loving father to rebellious Eddie (Darius McCrary), cute little Judy (Jaimee Foxworth) and smart aleck Laura (Kelly Shanygne Williams) – with whom Urkel is utterly in (unrequited) love. Harriette and Carl also open their home to Carl's feisty mother Estelle (Rosetta LeNoire) and Harriette's sister, aspiring writer Rachel (Telma Hopkins) and her rambunctious son Richie (Bryton McClure).

Eventually, when Urkel's parents move to Russia without him, he, too, moves in with the Winslows, as does Richie’s tough, streetwise pal 3J. As the series progresses, Urkel invents a multitude of incredible gadgets with which he breaks windows, furniture and Carl’s patience. And just when Urkel’s ever-annoying mishaps seem unbearable, the Winslows and friends are ever-endeared by his good intentions and upbeat disposition.

Family Matters was part of ABC’s TGIF from 1989 until 1997 before it became part of the CBS “Block Party” lineup from 1997-98. The series was produced by Miller-Boyett Productions in association with Lorimar Television in the first two seasons. In seasons 3-9, it was produced by Bickley-Warren Productions & Miller-Boyett Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. Executive producers are Thomas L. Miller and Robert L. Boyett, who developed the show; creators William Bickley and Michael Warren (seasons 2-7) and David W. Duclon (seasons 3-8).

Boy that's a crummy timeslot for Family Matters. I for sure would have thought it would be at 9pm. I guess Home Improvement must be doing really well. I can't see an other explanation for airing it at 8:30, which is way too early, and 11pm. Plus it's getting shafted on weekends, at midnight.

I'm also surprised Fresh Prince is losing another slot. It must be low on airplays.

That's good that Family Matters isn't taking over any of the early Home Improvement slots. I might watch Family Matters sometimes, it's ok. I liked it for a couple years when it was originally on
