Did Lamont seem too angry?
Just saw the "Crossed Swords" episode the other day. It seemed that they had Lamont's character too angry when they first started the show but as the years went by, he sort of chilled out. What does everybody think about this?

If my father were Fred Sanford, I'd be angry too.

Watching that father and son relationship never gets old. I'm still laughing at it after all these years. The comedy shows then were way funnier than what we have now.

Lamont was really uptight and angry in season 1. There was no reason for him to act like that at all. |

I didn't notice the difference in Lamont's demanor from Season 1 to the later seasons. Im obviously not paying close attention to his behavior, the other posters seem to agree.
I do agree with BarneyFife, Lamont had every reason to be upset with his dear old dad. Fred provided almost no help with the junk biz and he was always calling his son, the now classic "Big Dummy" Funny stuff if you are a viewer. But to be on the receiving end of it.......its gotta be very aggravating and demoralizing.Chris Last edited by Chris Billings : 04-18-2008 at 04:58 PM. |

I read somewhere that Lamont was too mean in the first season and they had him chill out in later seasons.
I found it odd that Lamont liked to manipulate situations to make trouble for Fred under the guise that he was teaching him a lesson. For instance, when Lamont arranged it so Donna and Carol would arrive for dinner on the same night. And the time Lamont called Fast Fannie and told her and her friends to come to Fred's party an hour later so he'd have time to tire the old boys out. |

If I had to put up with Fred day and night - I'd be pretty mad myself!! ![]()

Lamont was supposed to be that way, but the producers decided to make him nicer later on in the show's run.
