Exclamation Air America suspends Randi Rhodes. No Off-Topic Allowed.

This thread is only for discussion of Randi Rhodes' suspension at Air America. The other thread went south, but this one won't. Any off topic posts will be deleted. The other Randi Rhodes' thread is for off topic, not this one.
------------------------------------------------------------

The Democrats continue to implode and attack one another, as the suspension of Randi Rhodes shows how split the party is. and is becoming.

Randi Rhodes, who has spoken some of the most hateful things against Republicans and conservatives, was suspended from Air America for making fun of Hillary Clinton, while using the same tactics and language she used against the Republicans.

Some of her liberal detractors were quick to jump on the situation and connect Barack Obama with Rhodes, and Rhodes with Jeremiah Wright.

Like mentioned here, this is an attempt by Hillary Clinton supporters to now use this and other events to make her look like moderate, in contrast to the radical liberal she is. If she and her followers can make Obama look like a guy way out there, people will start to consider her as looking normal, even with the highly socialist policies she embraces.

Talk about hypocritical with liberals though. Rhodes can speak evil of people of a certain political persuasion and get away with it, but speak against Hillary Clinton and it's off to media Siberia.

I think we're seeing the Clinton strategy here, as she attempts to paint Barack Obama as a radical, fringe person, while making herself look like middle America. While a lot of us know better, many that don't understand these tactics will probably be persuaded. At least those reading this now know what's going on.

Great article Janice and a great idea to keep this thread on the subject. Hillary's followers are doing what they always have.... lie, lie, lie. She lies about herself and she lies about her opponent. Nothing ever changes.

My opinion is that I'm glad they suspended her, as she crossed a line, calling Clinton a F***** whore. Still, I wonder if she called McCain or even Obama, equally offensive names, if she'd get a time-out. The Clintons do seem to have extra protection.

Saying those things is just stupid. You're supposed to be a professional, not some idiot an an open mic night.

to stay on topic, I am sure someone would get fired from Fox News if they spoke against Bush, while it's open season on the Democrats there

Not to get OFF TOPIC.. But, I see people on FOX News all the time speaking against Bush, including Hannity and O'Reilly. Face it, it's the Left that walks in lockstep. FOX News is mildly against the Left. Now,f I ran a stations, you may have an argument.

Sorry, OK. I know someone who dated her in Queens, NYC, showed me an old picture with her at some club. Anyway, he says she never talked about politics, and he went out with her for a year. He said it's all an act, and she's a phony. This could be an attempt to appeal to the far-left, which now has a death grip on the DNC, by showing her as attacking 'establishment' liberals like Billary, suspending her, getting 'free' publicity, and re-instating her again.

You're welcome. As for my avatar..

The late, great Reta Shaw. Born in South Paris, Maine, the daughter of a New England orchestra leader. Educated in the arts, Shaw debuted in the play, It Takes Two, a 1946 dud. She went on to character roles in such Broadway musicals as Annie Get Your Gun and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. She created the part of Mabel when the musical 'The Pajama Game' opened on Broadway in 1954, a role she reprised in the film version. Shaw was one of the few members of the original Broadway cast of Picnic to be invited to appear in the 1956 film version. She appeared in numerous supporting film roles throughout her career including perhaps most noticeably in Mary Poppins, Pollyanna, Meet Me in St. Louis, and The Ghost and Mr Chicken. She also appeared in scores of televisions series including as Martha the housekeeper in the 1968-1970 series The Ghost & Mrs. Muir. Her last film was Escape to Witch Mountain in 1975. She died in Encino, California at the age of 69.

Most male actors can get 'away' with any looks, but, it was harder for women who were not, to put it gently, 'sexy.' But, Reta never cared about those things and was a treat ,whenever she was in any movie or TV show, for me. She reminded me of the strong women I grew up with in my neighborhood. As she said when she played Ms. 'Frosty', the maid in an ODD COUPLE episode, 'I wield an Iron Mop.' She was a real feminist, long before it was fashionable. My faves are as the seance leader of a group in 'the Ghost and Mr. Chicken' and as the kindly 'Aunt Clara' in one of my fave shows of all time 'Lost In Space.' But, no matter what she was in, you knew she was there, a presence. So, three cheers for one of my favorite unsung female actors from my youth. The late, great Reta Shaw. I know, no matter where she is in heaven, she's in charge.

to be on topic. How much Obama bashing happens on Air America? If the hosts can get away with bashing Obama, but not Hilary, then I do think it's a double standard. I think Hilary is just popular for bringing controversy wherever she goes, so that is why this is newsworthy. Even amongst the most left liberals, she has always been a polarizing figure, ever since 1992, and will probably remain so until her death. And this incident shows just that.

to FamilyFan. All this time I thought that was Aunt Bee on your avatar

Frances Bavier (Aunt Bea) was great, she had a great bit role as the suspicious boarding house owner where Patricia Neal lived in the Day The Earth Stood Still.

There is no question Obama has gotten a free ride. If it wasn't for 5 guys on radio and FOX news, you would have never heard about it in the print media or much of TV. I'm in NYC, and you heard more about what a 'cad' Guiliani was for leaving his Journalist wife, than you heard about Obama's preacher, commie buddies and general shady back ground.

Randi Rhodes has always been raunchy. She started in South Florida and was on right before Howard Stern. When I was young and didn't know any better, I would listen to her radio show every day. She was actually good when she first started, but quickly went downhill after that.

I think it's good that they suspended her.
