it probably won't happen, but I have to admit I am sometimes gullable enough to believe it.
Apparently, a Mayan book predicted December 21, 2012 would be the end of the world years ago, and a lot of people are buying into it. I just heard about it, but part of me is a little tense. However, I am really hoping this is another Y2K type of media scare. Anyways, if we're not supposed to know our exact date of death, how is it written when the end of the world is drawing? But still... it scares me because I haven't accomplished everything I've wanted to and makes me want to make the next 4 years the best just in case. Who else has heard about this? Opinions pro and con? |

I've heard something like that and I don't buy any of it. Only God knows when this world will end. People have been predicting for years that the "world will end." And here we are. It's just another thing they use to try and stir people up. Y2K is the perfect example of the bullsh*t.
When 2012 comes and goes they'll change the date to 2024. Just something for them to do. Live your life and don't worry over the things these people come up with. I personally don't think we'll see the "end" of the world in our lifetime. But again...only God knows. In the mean time I'm not going to listen to the "theories" or waste a minute of my life worrying about it.

I think that end of the world prophecies are fascinating from a storytelling persepective, but I'm not sure how much faith I put in them. Of course, with the way this world is, we might just end up bringing on the end ourselves.

I agree, only God knows when the end comes, but it seems like these people are so 100% positive the world is ending that day that it scares you into wondering if they're right. Even tho I honestly think if the people who are making websites and YouTube videos dreading that day, why not just put themselves out of their misery? but what I noticed is that a lot of people predicted July 1999, Y2K, 12/21/12 and other dates in time both future and past as these really bad days that would change and ruin everything, but I don't ever remember hearing a 9/11/01 prophecy, and that was the worst thing to happen in America in the last 100 years, but there weren't scholars and websites studying the possibility of something bad happening on that date. |

My friend believes in it. Everytime i say something about the future not looking good for the children when they get older, or i wonder how high the gas prices will be in 20 years, she always throws "the worlds gonna end in the year 2012, so it doesn't matter" at me. I really don't believe it myself, and i don't worry about it. There's nothing we can do to stop it, if it's true. 90% of the things you worry about, never happens.

it'll be awfully convenient if it's true. humanity has ****ed itself over, we need to be exterminated already.

I have heard stuff like this before, it is just hype how can someone or something predict when the world is going to end? It will end when it ends, but it would be convenient to know when though

I think it's far likelier that our way of life will end in 2012.
The human race will go on for some time. Our society will not. |

I don't believe in the end of the world. Humans will die out eventually, but I don't think it will happen within my lifetime. And when it does happen, the world will still be here. Life on earth will most likely continue. Not necessarily, but most likely. Eventually the planet will become a lifeless hunk of rock. But not in the near foreseeable future. What I do acknowledge is the frailty of our society and the lack of sustainability that is our way of life. I can certainly see that ending within the next decade.

I never heard of this new end of the world rumor. But a few years before 2006 I was terrified that the world would end 6/6/06, yet here we are talking about ANOTHER rumor. I'm with most of ya'll. I'm going enjoy my life and when Jesus comes, I'll be ready. I hope we zap out of our clothes like in the book 'Left Behind.'
In the Bible it said it could happen in the twinkle of an eye, so who knows?
