NEW YORK - Jennifer Lopez gave birth to twins early Friday, making the singer and husband Marc Anthony the parents of a boy and a girl after one of pop music's most closely watched pregnancies.

Lopez representative Simon Fields told People magazine the babies were born shortly after midnight on New York's Long Island, with the 5-pound, 7-ounce girl arriving first, followed by her 6-pound brother minutes later. The location was not identified.

"Jennifer and Marc are delighted, thrilled and over the moon," Fields told the magazine.

Lopez' publicists and agent did not return telephone calls from The Associated Press early Friday.

Ending months of speculation, Lopez confirmed her pregnancy at a Miami concert in November. Her father, David Lopez, told Telefutura's "Escandalo TV" earlier this month that the 39-year-old singer was expecting twins.

Lopez and Anthony, 38, married in 2004. The twins are her first children, and his third and fourth.

New York - Superstar singer/actress Jennifer Lopez gave birth to twins early Friday morning, a boy and a girl who are destined to be more powerful, successful and just plain better than your kids will ever be.

"Jennifer and Marc (Anthony, J-Lo's husband) are thrilled beyond belief to be the parents of two beautiful children who are at this moment more perfect and important than the children of any of their fans will ever hope to be in their entire lives," a publicist for the couple stated. "Jen and Marc hope the birth of their children will inspire the people of the world to raise their children to be strong and proud so that some day they may be able to work for their amazing offspring."

Lopez's boy and girl have already secured a lucrative "first photo" deal with People magazine to the tune of six million dollars, which let's face it, makes that picture hanging on the refrigerator that your kid made the other day look like a gigantic pile of ****.

Wow, twins, and a boy and a girl. If they want just two kids, their family is complete. Babies are always a blessing, and congratulations to them.
